Robert Schumann(1810-1856)
Robert Schumann was born in Zwickau, near Dresden, Germany. Important to the Romantic movement. both as a prolificcomposer and able critic, he suffered increasingly from depression, finally attempting suicide suicide and dying in an asylum two years later. His many Lieder, four song cycles, and piano works best display his talent for creativity and expression, but he also wrote chamber, choral, and orchestral music, including four symphonies 1841-1852, the Piano Concerto 1845, and the Cello Concerto 1860.
