S.A. Symphony cancels Young People's Concerts

The San Antonio Symphony's Young People's Concerts scheduled for Wednesday through Friday have been canceled.

The Young People's Concerts are the third set of canceled performances of the yet-to-begin 60th anniversary season by the Symphony Society of San Antonio due to the symphony's continuing financial crisis.

Charles Lutz, symphony board chairman, said in a prepared statement, "It is with great regret that we are canceling the concerts scheduled for next week. The concerts offer many San Antonio school children their only contact with live music and in some schools, the students' only form of music education. It is our sincere hope that we will find a solution to our financial problems in the very near future so that the three remaining weeks of Young People's Concerts scheduled later in the school year will take place."
