Assa Barak
The Conductor of YOAV CHOIR until June 2005
Assa Barak, the first conductor of YOAV CHOIR, lives in Kibbutz Kfar Menachem.
After studying piano and accordion he went on to study music instruction at the College for Music Teatures in Tel Aviv ,during the years 1972-1975.
Assa was a member of the Kibbutz Artzi Choir for many years, and has taken part in four tours abroad which centered around participation in major festivals, including the international Europa Cantat in Strassbourg.
He served as assistant conductor of the Kibbutz Artzi Choir and as permanent conductor of the choir's special youth performances.
In November 1988, he was invited to participate in a delegation of choral dirctors which toured Germany.
Assa also served as the conductor and musical director of the Eshkol Choir, under the auspices of the Eshkol Regional Council.
In addition to his choral activities, Assa worked as a music educator both on his kibbutz and at the regional high school and lately he has become the sub-director of the regional high school.
Assa Barak founded the Yoav choir, he has remained the choir's sole permanent conductor and musical director until June 2005.
