| GENERAL STUFF |
 Meet Rei (Not very hard, is it? Well, it does sound more like "Lay" than "Ray" ^^;;). This spiritual girl takes life very seriously most of the time, though she does have her rather hilarious moments. In "The Cursed Bus! The Fighter of Flames Mars Appears" ("An Uncharmed Life"), Ami and Usagi go to the temple district to find the cause of some missing buses and the children on them. Jadeite sent Rei into the void where the buses were and there Luna discovered her as the soldier of war and flame, Sailormars (セーラーマーズ). Rei is fiercly loyal to her friends and to her mission to protect the Moon Princess. She's got a very competitive and intimidating attitude. Actually, she's just got a 'tude, period. ^^ She especially picks Usagi to pieces, though that is her way of showing that she cares about her. Raye is quite a bit meaner to Serena than Rei is to Usagi. In the manga, Rei is actually closer to Minako than to Usagi in the anime. As it is, poor Minako is left just kind of hanging out there. ^^ Rei goes to T.A. Catholic/Private School for girls, though she is not Catholic. She is a very self-conscious girl. She does not want to be seen as a weakling. Because of this, she sometimes acts like a berserker, rushing into a fight completely sure of herself but not thinking her way through first. In the beginning, she is in puppy-love with Mamoru (Darien) but soon realizes that it just wasn't meant to be. |
| MY OPINION |
 I'm sorry, and this is probably going to get a lot of Mars fans pissed off at me, but I don't like Rei. I know that criticizing is her way of showing she cares, but she just always comes off as too bitchy. She does lighten up a little after S, and a lot in Stars, though. But when she and Chibiusa gang up...Oh Lord...I don't really admire her much at all except for one thing; her fierce loyalty is so strong that even I must admit it is truly inspiring. On the other hand, she briefly dated Mamoru just to tick off Usagi, though she never tried to steal him! Some rumors, I swear. ~_~ She also seems to overshadow the other Inners, which really irritates me no end. I dislike glory-hoggers, in case you hadn't noticed. The anime portrays her as insulting and so volatile that she'll blow up at anyone and anything to the point of just being an annoyance. Fire as a superpower is grossly over-rated and I don't like her fuku either. Bright red and purple! I think purple is ugly anyway. Somebody was smoking something illegal when he drew Mars. Her shiny stilettos are cool though! ^_^ Her fisique and hair/facial features are beautiful, though just a little too unreal after a battle... |
