Can you tell a hungry baby, that you have no money?

"I want to prepare lunch, but there's nothing in the house!" Can you imagine a mother's feelings, when her baby is crying, but she has no milk-powder? "I give only half a spoonful of non-dairy baby-formula and sometimes just rice-water".

Tzedaka - Charity Project

This project comes as a possible solution to the many calls for financial aid, coming from needy families, situated in Israel, mostly in Jerusalem. Many are cases of sick children, needing specialis- ed surgery, well out of reach of their needy parents. Others are cases of whole large families, where the late father has suddenly left a widow, with many orphans, who are desolate and with no way of coping with the demands imposed. Or families, with its breadwinner prostate with chronic disease, leaving the wife to cope with another problem. Or just families, where, without your help, the children won't see a slice of meat, even on Shabbat.(1)
In many cases, unscrupulous people falsify introductory letters "from well-known rabbi's", inventing heart-rending stories, in order to sollicit donations from well-meaning, soft-hearted victims.
In other cases, the name of the sick child or parent is abused by unscrupulous people, applying for help in their names, using the proceeds for different goals, e.g. in the casinos of Atlantic City.(2)
I have set myself a double goal: to try to help the needy and to prevent well-meaning, generous people, from giving their money to the wrong purpose. Therefor I beg your clemency for my audacity, to request you, if you would be willing to organize an appeal in your community for a monthly contribution, specifying to you the cases, where the money will be directed, though conserving these people's privacy.
The money will find its way, in its entirety, to the needy causes, without deduction of costs, other than transfer of the funds. (3)
If you have doubts about my sincerity, I am willing to present my credentials to a rabbi or other personality of your choice in Israel. Also, I shall be indebted to you, for constructive comments or ideas, to improve upon this project or this appeal. Maybe it would be a good idea, to found a special charity fund for this cause.
Can you, please, reply to this appeal and if possible, give a rough idea for what amount you estimate, that your community will be able and willing to participate.
Thanking you in advance and wishing you all the blessings from Heaven.
