There is also a mysterious undated grave in Lamar for "Inv. Hobbs". In the note listing the above names and dates, Grandma mentioned a daughter "with us for two months".

The Illinois Public Domain Land Tract Sales Database lists the following Hobbs who had adjoining property in Helvetia Twp, Madison Co: Harbert, James, John and Mary Jane; also Eward Dorsey and Basil Nicholas elsewhere in Madison Co. Were these people related to Harbert? So far, I have found only Harbert and John in census records.

I have been told that there was a Harbard/Harbert Hobbs who was the son of William and Easter/Ester Hobbs of Orange County, NC. He had brothers named James and John, but (per 1850 census) the John Hobbs in Madison Co. IL was born about 1795. The birth date of the John Hobbs of Orange County NC is shown as being several years earlier.
