Effects of Economic downturn of 2008-09

A humble request from the Trust and the staff of Jeevan Gnanodhaya. The economic downturn has affected all our donors and hence the donations, with which we have been able to continue this service, has come down by 75%. We are finding it difficult to make ends meet.

Kindly spare some thought for these children and help us with your donations.

Jeevan Gnanodhaya Hr. Sec. School for the Hearing Impaired

This is the first institution started by Jeevan Gnanodhaya Charitable Trust. Currently there are more than 150 hearing impaired children getting education from this school. From 2004 to 2008, about 35 students have successfully completed their Higher Secondary examinations and joined the Jeevan Gnanodhaya Industrial Training Institute (ITI) for further industrial training.

From 2003 to 2008 more than 40 students have successfully completed their high school examinations. We secured 100% pass results and were recognised as an excellent school in the district.

Class of 10th standard

ITI Workshop Jeevan Gnanodhaya Industrial Training Institute

The Training Institute has been functioning since September 5th 2003. The institute is offering training in 'Fitter' category. From 2008, we have also started offering 'Welding' and 'Turning' training. After two years of training, with central government certification, these children can obtain employment in industrial companies.

For every batch we've admitted only hearing impaired students. We can take upto 18 students per year in the institute.

Jeevan Gnanodhaya Home for the Mentally Retarded

We're giving shelter to children who are mentally retarded and fulfilling their daily needs. 18 mentally retarded children are with us.

Jeevan Chalk Works

This cottage industry was started on 14th February 2004. This industry has been started for hearing impaired youth, who are above 18 years, considering their inability to pursue further studies as well as their economic welfare. We run this industry for a few months in the summer of every year.

Based on production capacity and market situation, we can consider giving employment opportunity to a few more hearing impaired youth.

Jeevan Gnanodhaya English School

This school has been started with priority for children of fully illiterate parents in rural area. There were 100 village children studying in this school when we started it in 2004. The current strength for this school has reached 215 in September 2008.
