Introduction

These are some of the poems that have been posted by my good friends and myself in Mimi’s Kaleidoscope. Biancas Book of poetry and my own Biki’s Workshop. My ambition is to have everyone of my friends represented here. Please don’t be upset if you or your or best poem of these forms does not appear here. The main reason is probably because of an oversight on my part. If you feel strong about it, please tell me and I’ll amend the problem.

How Does The Night Sleep jT Oct98

Beam of the Moon

The pulse of the night, beats with desire
the scarlet warm wind, fanning the fire
the starkness of night, seducing the moon
turns the misty fog, a dark sapphire

Slithers through the mist, of the wet lagoon
thrusting with passion, just like a harpoon
deeper and deeper, into the twilight
aware that the dawn, will awaken soon

The shaft of the beam, glistening in spite
flaunting and plunging, into the dark night
trembling waters, singing in the haze
the dark voyeur clouds, peek down out of sight

The depths of pleasure, trembling with praise
The lust in the night, trembles in amaze

Creatures of the night

The creatures of the night
can't wait their turn and fight
to drain you of your essence
each one seeks the right.

There is the vampiric presence
that wants to suck your vitesence
The werewolf merely wishes hell
and will kill you out of arrog'nce.

Other beasties chase pell mell
to dine and sup and feast as well
as will as any other demon
leave you with an empty shell.

A soulless creature searching on
some other human soul to dine upon.

Dark River

Raging, swollen river running swift
Dark the murky waters, arms can’t lift
Grasping for a hold my fingers slide
Submerging in this darkness, cast adrift.

Make the churning stop now, halt the ride
Can’t think clearly, rivers just too wide
Dragging all that swims under its wake
Grab a passing branch, crawl up the side.

Water swirling, stop for goodness sake
Stop the drowning, have a life to make
Quit the mind games, don’t know where to go
Spinning, where’s the exit, should I break

Just give in and go under the flow
Reasoning says keep fighting, scream out no.

Deadly Bliss

My harsh breathing cuts through the night air
Looking behind me, can’t see you there
Senses finely tuned, I know you’re here
Trembling under your unseen cold stare

Keep running, to stop is death I fear
What can I hear, steady breathing near
Your dark presence taunting, out of sight
Low pitched snarling, so close to my ear

Frozen, I feel your grip in the night
One long nail trailing my cheek so light
In horror I gaze into dark eyes
Strangely drawn to you, yearning your bite

Pressed against you, coldness lighting fires
Lips burning on mine stifling my cries
Feeling sharpness of teeth beneath lips
Grazing along my neck, soul deep sighs

The world spinning darkly with your nips
Deadly bliss, your bite of stinging whips

Drink

Come close and have a taste of lover's lips;
Sweet touch, imbibing warm and supple sips
Of liquors heady, raising blush to fore,
And warming wider, spreading drip by drip.

Deep in passion's cup may flow the store
Of earthy flavours blended from the core.
There souls that crave to greedily enfilade,
By stoking fires of love, drink even more.

Intoxicants may yet become our bane
Or saving grace; we care not to contain
Such joy of life as we could never think,
Forsaking liquid spread of sweeter pain.

For love consumed by thirst can nought but sink,
These potions flow between that we may drink.

Leaving!

Leaving! My son just drove out of sight
To seek an education he will drive into the night
I miss him already and the dust has not settled
I love that young man with all my might

We lost his Mother 3 years ago
She would have been proud this I know
He was surely the apple of her eye
I know she is with him as sure as the winds blow

Oh lord in heaven reach down this day
And protect him as these words I say
He is good but he is young
Put your loving arms around him I pray

It's a new beginning that he will face
And I trust him, confidently, to your grace

Night Spirit

The lonely night draw swiftly down
covering the world in a deep black gown
creeping softly in without a sound
as I sleep alone in this distant town.

I close my eyes, but sleep can't be found
till your loving spirit wraps itself around
and I'm covered and warm wrapped in love
an ethereal blanket keeps me safe and sound.

Distances shrink in somnambulistic pleasure
as I dream and picture warm nights together
feelings shared, tied with silken thread
two lover inseparate, joined in love forever

throughout the night our vows of love attested
And with the morning light love finds us blessed

Rubaiyat Sonnet

Velvety shadows linger in the night
as we bathe in the dark and pale moonlight
secluded are we, as the night dreams on
sheltered by darkness, your love I invite

Removing my gown, my gown of chiffon
laying in the nude, as bare as a fawn
on a bed of leaves, all alone with you
alone in the dark, in your arms till dawn

The wind bats flutter, across the moons hue
mammals of the night, in my pools of blue
as you suck my blood, I cannot resist
being your temptress, your seductress too

Your passion and strength, desiring your kiss
Under the moonlight, deep in the abyss

Solitude

Cold solitude pervades my soul,
now fills it like an empty bowl.
Fate's fortune turned her gaze away,
and left no trace of love's console.

I blindly walk 'neath light of day,
breath trembling sighs of sad dismay.
Though countenance no pain doth show,
my weeping heart beats loud betray.

How oft must fallen frigid snow,
snuff out love-tinder's inner glow?
Will chance not spare a single spark,
and let sweet passioned fire grow?

Some day may lonely disembark,
until such time my mood dims dark.

Wishing

Hold me gently within your warm eyes
Immersed softly in your well of sighs
Let our spirits entwine with our dreams
Unite in this cloud land, let us rise

In this land where nothings what it seems
Where all is possible, test the seams
Reality fades, let us play here
Lead us wherein love and mischief streams

No one to watch us, no one to fear
Where words of love only we can hear
Kisses divine, hugs sublime with you
Savour the passion, come here my dear

Tell me you want this magic realm too
Wishing may deem this wish to come true

ThunderStorm Aug 98

You Still Remain

As your distant voice fades, I close my eyes
Still echoing the room are our whispered cries
Deep into the night, you and I became one again
Moulding our bodies, almost to sunrise

Gathering the blankets tightly up under my chin,
My mind floods with memories of our wanton bare skin
I still feel flushed with the fever of you
Remembering the plateau our passions had been

The candles still flicker, almost as if on queue
Dancing with my memories, still fresh and new
The scent of you lingers, your taste yet remains
The morning is filled with the essence of you

As I finally drift off, on the bed that we'd lain
I hug my pillow tightly, as I call out your name.

Terza Rima

Loves Pain Terza Rima Sonnet

How often do we punish the one we love
words said in heat, more poison than a snakes
pouring out pure venom from above.

And with the morning our conscience shakes
wishing that we could pull back every word
and repair the scars and fix heartbreaks.

And our loved one says "don’t be absurd"
"I forgive", but in her voice you hear the pain
and from her tone, something else is heard.

and she quickly turns away, and hides again
you reach for her and take her in your arms
and turn her to you and see the strain

behind her smile, but know there’s no harm
that can’t be fixed by this womans charms.

Desert Rain

Raindrops of summer sprinkle desert sands
quenching the desert in the heat of night
flowing as lovely, as the Rio Grande

French kiss of nature, in the pale moonlight
kiss of the rain gods, bless the coyote
quenching the desert, in the heat of night

Even in the Sun, a land of beauty
prickly pear cactus, and yucca blossom
kiss of the rain gods, bless the coyote

Only the sound of a bumblebee hum
and the whip-poor-will, digesting insects
prickly pear cactus, and yucca blossom

Nocturnal birds eat, as the moon reflects
the hooting night owl, and the night hawk search
and the whip-poor-will, digesting insects
While the coyotes, continue to lurch
the hooting night owl, and the night hawks search
raindrops of summer sprinkle desert sands
flowing as lovely as the Rio Grande

Fear No More the Raven Call

At the edge of evening, death and life unite
in darkness, that the vernal star may shine.
Fear no more the raven call of night.

Neither mourn the noontime's passing height
that draws in turn each shadow's dusky line.
At the edge of evening, death and life unite

before a brawling summer light,
on fields where roots and naked stems entwine
fear no more the raven call of night.

Go not with those entombed by autumn's bite,
whose sun-swept days plunge in steep decline
at the edge of evening. Death and life unite

my withered leaves, your spiraling flight
from barren trees that scarce confine. I
fear no more the raven call of night.

And so, my son, in winter as my blood might
weld within your veins, forsaking mine,
at the edge of evening, death and life unite.
Fear no more the raven call of night.

How Does The Night

How does the night sleep under stars so bright?
As tears fall from these dark slumbering eyes,
When crying souls die in the absent light!

And hidden within this invisible sight
Are cloud and fowl on cool lavender skies
How does the night sleep under stars so bright?

But in a realm obscure to what is right
Even the small hope of blue image lies,
While crying souls die in the absent light!

And the cold earth slays the life that must fight Lost in an endless sea of hallow cries, How does the night sleep under stars so bright?
But somewhere, deep inside the strongest might
Lives a freedom that bares golden reprise
While crying souls die in the absent light!

And slowly, it begins to hear their plight
In these suffered words will be sunrise
How does the night sleep under stars so bright?
While crying souls die in the absent light!
