Home Network Installation
Do not install any firewall such as zone alarm or sygate personal firewall
on the server computer
Configuring Windows 95/98/98SE/ME ( The Server Computer)
1. Go to control panel
2. Click on Network
3. There should be
One Client for Microsoft networks
One Dial Up Adapter
One Ethernet Adapter
OneNetBEUI, one for home network adapter
Two TCP/IP, one for each network adapter
One File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks
4. configure the TCP/IP protocol that goes to your ethernet adapter. Set this
computer ( the server ) to TCP/IP address 192.168.0.1 with a subnet mask of
255.255.255.0
5. Click Ok
Configuring Windows XP ( The Client Computer )
1. Windows XP Note: NetBEUI is no longer installed on your hard drive by default.
To proceed with this tutorial, you will need to copy the following files from
your XP CD on to your hard drive
#1) copy nbf.sys into the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ directory
#2) copy netnbf.inf into the C:\WINDOWS\\INF\ directory
2. Go to Network bridge
3. Click on properties
4. Install NetBEUI protocol
5.Restart Computer
6. Enable Simple file sharing on Windows XP
7. Run Network setup wizard on XP to set it as a client
8. Run Wingate 4.5 on WinMe ( the server computer )
