Lazovsky Region

Population is 20,000 people.

The Lazovsky Region is situated in the south-east of Primorye on the eastern slopes of the Sikhotae-Alin Mountain System and its southern spurs. The regional center, Lazo settlement, is located 324 km (201 miles) from Vladivostok. There is no railroad in the territory of the Region. Communication with the outer world is by auto and sea transport.

The Region's population is involved in the coastal and oceanic fishing, mariculture development, and fish and sea products processing. JSC Preobrazhenskaya Trawling Fleet Base and Valentin Fish Factory are located in the Region.

Among the Region's mineral deposits are tin and gold deposits. The thermal mineral waters are of great importance. Chistovodnoye, Province's specialized hospital, where illness of locomotor apparatus and cutaneous diseases are treated, is located on the radon springs. Two lakes with medical mud are also known in the Region. Closeness to the sea and availability of the medical springs and mud provides fine opportunities for tourism development in the Lazovsky Region. 24.8% of the Region's territory is occupied by the Lazovsky Nature Preserve.
