The territory of Partizansk is situated within the limits of the southern spurs of the Sikhotae-Alin range in the Partizanskaya river basin. The landscape of Partizansk as well as most towns in Primorye is hilly, 600-800 meters (1,968-2,624 feet) above the sea level on average. The highest peak is the Lysaya (Bold) Mountain, which is 1,242 m (4,074 feet) high. The next highest peaks are located in the south-western part and reach up to 900 m (2,952 feet). Separate peaks in the other places reach 408 m (1,338 feet) (the Ostraya (Sharp) Hill), 563 m (1,847 feet) (the Rublenaya (Chopped) Mountain in Avangard settlement), 669 m (2,194 feet) (in the Belaya Pad (White Valley)). Makarovsky and Alekseyevsky Mountain ranges, whose height exceeds 1,300 meters (4,264 feet), are located close to Partizansk. The lowest peaks are situated in the rivers and springs valleys. The height in the valley of the Bolshaya Tigrovaya (Large Tiger) River at the point of its flowing into the Partizanskaya (Partisan) River is 90 m (295 feet).
Many water flows of different sizes cross the territory of Partizansk in different directions. This forms a very dismembered landscape which is in fact a complex system of watershed eminences, river valleys, springs, and ditches.
The following are the main factors that determine modern landscape of the Partizansk territory:
All togeteher these reasons cause favorable conditions for selective erosion, and heavy rains cause the development of active erosion processes. The most raised parts of the landscape are resistant to weathering and erosion with magmatic rocks. The slopes of eminences composed of these rocks are steeper and have buldging form, and the slopes composed of sedimentary rocks are gently sloping, often concaved, framed at the foot by deluvium trails and cones of carry outs of temporary water flows from ditches, gullies, and pools.
