Laura's Puppy Page

Most of the pictures on this page are pictures of my puppy Patches. He's a 3 year old Pekingese/Chihuahua mix. He's just so adorable!

This is six week old Patches on the couch, his favorite spot to be!

This is is six MONTH old Patches on the couch...as usual.

I had the incredible pleasure of working at an animal shelter a couple summers back. Since I can never turn down a cute puppy face, when I found out that I could foster these cuties for two weeks before they were old enough for adoption, I didn't pass up the opportunity. My family did not appreciate me just bringing home three puppies from work one day, but they got used to it. Just to give you an idea of their size, they each weighed about two pounds when I brought them home...they were so little!

We called this one Chubs because she was the round one. She was later adopted by another shelter employee, and is now known as Daisy.

Yes, they were little, but boy could they cause trouble. There were times when it got pretty hard to keep track of all three of them. (Especially since they weren't housebroken!)

Patches at five weeks. (I told you he was adorable!)

There were a total of six puppies in the litter. Ironically enough, a third of the six was also adopted by a shelter employee. Spike has himself quite a home with his four Rottweiler siblings. I don't know what it was, but something about this litter made them hard to resist.

When the day came for the precious babies to go back, I didn't want to let go. They got me...they got me good. Fortunately my mother was feeling EXTREMELY generous that day, and volunteered to take care of Patches until I finished school. Patches has his good days and his bad days. Sometimes he really puts my family through the ringer. Fortunately, they love him just as much as I do. Thanks for all the help guys! Now that I'm on my own, its me that he puts through the ringer when he feels like it. But, he usually makes up for it at other times.

Well, now that I've babbled enough about Patches and his siblings, I must mention my family's other two dogs. Princess is a twelve year old sheperd mix (left) and Midnight is a six year old sheperd mix (right). They're just as great as Patches...I just happened to have left their pictures at home! Princess is our loyal guard dog. She doesn't tolerate childish behavior from Midnight and Patches...she's too good for that. Midnight is really good at getting in people's way, especially when they're in a hurry!

I must certainly admit that with all three dogs, my parent's house can get kind of crazy sometimes, but on the other hand, it would be pretty empty without them! My mom says its a bit less hectic now that Patches just comes back to visit.
