Well, we survived this year's first family wedding on March 29th., when Number One Son, Chris, tied the knot with the lovely Lisete in the Karnesburgh Gardens in Melbourne's old established Brighton
I had bought my Mother-Of-The-Groom outfit in Adelaide, chic black and white like 99% of the guests were wearing ... and my hairdresser did some serious work on me, on a SUNDAY, too...Thanks Kimberley!!... which was just as well because it was certainly a gathering of the beautiful people!
I had forgotten how handsome my son is..but he scrubbed up just so well after 24 hours sleep to recuperate from the Bucks' Night, and wearing a black Nehru suit so well cut that it cost as much to hire (almost) as my new outfit cost to own!
This was serious lump-in-the-throat stuff!
And consider the effect when multiplied by 4 to allow for three identically dressed, spectacularly handsome tall groomsmen!
Think I detected a degree of kneeknocking among the female guests!!
Was nice that the celebrant insisted Chris's dad and I give him away, just as Lisete's parents expected to do for her..
And it was a good feeling that the bride and groom had four parents who had stayed together to stand up with them as an example of what we were hoping would be in store for THEM!
Oh...and click on the happy newlyweds for a nostalgia trip!!
And in true Generation Gap style, a very different wedding is planned by my other son, David, (now Daud), who is marrying Ruswana in Bradford, U.K. on June 6th. He wants my daughter and me to attend, but wanted us to stop off and visit him in Kuala Lumpur first....seems we have to watch a special training video before we could be trusted not do do or say the wrong thing....
Hmmmm....
Just watch this space and I'll keep you posted!
