CVS (Chorionic Villus Sampling):

This procedure is done around the 8th to 12th week and gives the same information as the amniocentesis, but at an earlier time.

Higher chance for miscarriage than the amniocentesis.

 

How is the procedure done?

The doctor removes some of the tissue that attaches the pregnancy sac to the uterine wall. Then they will test this material for the possibility of problems.
