Fetal Distress:

| Main Menu | Complications |

Sometimes when performing various tests, the test indicates that the baby does not respond well to stress. This is called fetal distress. The heartbeat of the baby may drop when having a contraction and the movements may be jerky.

Fetal distress can also cause the fetus to have a bowel movement in the amniotic fluid. This is called mecconium and may occur if you are past due.
