The Marriage of Sally and Robert

My little sister got married on May 4th 1996. It's hard to believe that she has now been a wedded wife for over six years. But I wish her and Bert all the best, and thought that the spectacle and performance that was their wedding deserved at least a picture or two.

To clarify the different dresses/garbs/attire in the pictures below, the day itself consisted of two parts. In the morning, there was a civil ceremony at Bromley Registry Office, so that the two of them were then legally married (the bride wore green, the groom, a suit). The real big shebang was in the afternoon, at Charlton House in Charlton - an old hunting lodge for Henry VIII - where Barbara Smoker, president of the local Humanists Association, presided over what had the style of a church wedding service, but without any mention of God, as both bride and groom are agnostic. And yes, the bride wore gold.

And all this was followed by a rather raucus reception, featuring songs from Terry Gonda, and a Marion-Kelvin-Jo-Steve production medley. A good time was had by all...and two years on, Sally and Rob and Libby the bird are still very happily together. If you want to contact Sally (or hire her for any acting jobs available!) you can email here at sally_re@yahoo.com.

This page doesn't yet capture the lavishness of the occasion, the gold dresses, the flowers, the music.. but it's a start. Nor can I get the all singing, all dancing drag queens who made the costumes and did the make up.. but hopefully you can get the picture.

But for now you'll have to go back to the main page
