Circle of Roses

For my childhood friend,
Janet Ling

As kids we played
In sunshine and shade
Close as sisters
Best of friends

Jealous sulks
And patching ups
Things that made
Our friendship sparks

Whimsical girls
With innocent smears
Smelling roses
To keep our cheer
The day came
Your family moved
I felt at loss
A rose withered

Letters poured
Expressing our minds
Physically apart
But never our hearts

Adolescent years
Burried in my books
A rose with tears
Shy and forlon

An early start
In understanding life
Ends childish part
 Begins my strife
Enters a special rose
Jesus our King
Before He arose
Crushed for beings

Cleansed and saved
By His grace
In Him now
We're eternal friends

His garden of life
We bloom and grow
Unending, everlasting
In a circle of roses

With love always,
Lisa Lu
