The Promised One
Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son,
and she will call His name Immanuel.  Isaiah 7: 14

But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
too little to be among the clans of Judah,
from you One will go forth for Me
to be ruler in Israel.
His goings forth are from long ago,
from the days of eternity.
Micah 5: 2

Behold, I am going to
send My messenger,
and he will clear the way before Me.
And the Lord, whom you seek,
will suddenly come to His temple;
and the messenger of the covenant,
in whom you delight,
behold, He is coming,
says the LORD of hosts.
Malachi 3: 1

For a child will be born to us,
a son will be given to us;
& the government will rest on His shoulders;
and His name will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
There will be no end
to the increase of His government
or of peace on the throne of David
and over his kingdom,
to establish it and to uphold it
with justice and righteousness
from then on and forevermore.
The zeal of the LORD of hosts
will accomplish this.
Isaiah 9: 6-7

I kept looking in the night visions,
and behold, with the clouds of heaven
One like a Son of Man was coming;
and He came up to the Ancient of Days
and was presented before Him.
And to Him was given dominion,
glory and a kingdom,
that all the peoples, nations
and men of every language
might serve Him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion
which will not pass away;
and His kingdom is one which
will not be destroyed.
Daniel 7: 13-14

But there will be no more gloom for her
who was in anguish;
in earlier times He treated
the land of Zebulun
and the land of Naphtali with contempt,
but later on He shall make it glorious,
by the way of the sea,
on the other side of Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles.
The people who walk in darkness
will see a great light;
those who live in a dark land,
the light will shine on them.
Isaiah 9: 1-2
The LORD called Me from the womb;
from the body of
My mother He named Me.
He has made My mouth
like a sharp sword,
in the shadow of His hand
He has concealed Me;
and He has also made
Me a select arrow,
He has hidden Me in His quiver.
He said to Me,
"You are My Servant, Israel,
in Whom I will show My glory."
But I said, "I have toiled in vain,
I have spent My strength
for nothing and vanity;
Yet surely the justice due to Me
is with the LORD,
and My reward with My God."
And now says the LORD,
who formed Me from
the womb to be His Servant,
to bring Jacob back to Him,
so that Israel might be gathered to Him
(For I am honored in
the sight of the LORD,
and My God is My strength).
He says,
"It is too small a thing
that You should be My Servant
to raise up the tribes of Jacob
and to restore
the preserved ones of Israel;
I will also make You
a light of the nations
so that My salvation may reach
to the end of the earth."
Thus says the LORD,
the Redeemer of Israel and its Holy One,
to the despised One,
to the One abhorred by the nation,
to the Servant of rulers:
"Kings will see and arise,
Princes will also bow down,
because of the LORD who is faithful,
the Holy One of Israel
who has chosen You.
Isaiah 49: 1-12

Then a shoot will spring from
the stem of Jesse,
and a branch from
his roots will bear fruit.
The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him,
the spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the spirit of counsel and strength,
the spirit of knowledge
and the fear of the LORD.
And He will delight in
the fear of the LORD,
And He will not judge by
what His eyes see,
nor make a decision by
what His ears hear;
But with righteousness
He will judge the poor,
and decide with fairness
for the afflicted of the earth;
and He will strike the earth
with the rod of His mouth,
and with the breath of His lips
He will slay the wicked.
Isaiah 11: 1-4
Behold, My Servant, whom I uphold;
My chosen one in whom My soul delights.
I have put My Spirit upon Him;
He will bring forth justice to the nations.
He will not cry out or raise His voice,
nor make His voice heard in the street.
A bruised reed He will not break
and a dimly burning wick He will not extinguish;
He will faithfully bring forth justice.
He will not be disheartened or crushed
until He has established justice in the earth;
and the coastlands will
wait expectantly for His law.
Thus says God the LORD,
Who created the heavens and
stretched them out,
Who spread out the earth and its offspring,
Who gives breath to the people on it
And spirit to those who walk in it:
I am the LORD,
I have called you in righteousness,
I will also hold you by
the hand and watch over you,
and I will appoint you
as a covenant to the people,
as a light to the nations,
to open blind eyes,
to bring out prisoners from the dungeon
and those who dwell in darkness
from the prison.
Isaiah 42: 1-7

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to bring good news to the afflicted;
He has sent me
to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to captives
and freedom to prisoners;
to proclaim the favorable year of the LORD
and the day of vengeance of our God;
to comfort all who mourn...
Isaiah 61: 1-2

But as for Me,
I have installed My King Upon Zion,
My holy mountain.
I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD:
He said to Me, You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You. Ask of Me,
and I will surely give the nations
as Your inheritance,
and the very ends of the earth
as Your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron,
You shall shatter them like earthenware.
Now therefore, O kings,
show discernment;
Take warning, O judges of the earth.
Worship the LORD with reverence
and rejoice with trembling.
Do homage to the Son,
that He not become angry,
and you perish in the way,
for His wrath may soon be kindled.
How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!
