Our God is a personal God - and He desires intimate fellowship with us.
God used to walk and talk with Adam and Eve - until sin dulled human ears
to hearing His voice and our eyes from seeing God. Adam and Eve
represented the entire human race, and they longed for personal
fellowship with God. Today's human race as a whole does NOT desire
fellowship with God and are therefore not sensitive to hearing His
voice.
That said, God CAN and DOES talk to individuals individually - those who
are seeking Him, wanting that intimacy. But God also has chosen
individuals with whom He can communicate to speak to the rest of
humanity. These are the Prophets, chosen to be His spokesmen to the
masses.
Does this surprise you? Have religious beliefs, legalism, doctrine,
etc. taught you that there are no more prophets? That that was Old
Testament times only - and you have accepted that as ok? We then need
to turn to His Word which proclaims that Jesus Christ is the same
yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8 NIV). This means what
He did then, He does now. There where prophets who spoke for God then,
and there are prophets who speak for God now.
Thus Jesus rent the veil that kept us from seeing God and removed our
dullness of hearing. He made the way for God to come and dwell personally
within each of us. When we're born again by the blood of Jesus and filled
with Holy Spirit, our body becomes a temple of God - His dwelling place
(1 Corinthians 6:19: "Do you not know that your body is a temple of
the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? You are not your own.")
Jesus was the beginning of a whole new race of God-created beings. He
is the firstborn among many - the prototype of an entire new creation-in-
Christ who became like Him, being conformed to His very image and likeness.
After Jesus ascended alive bodily into Heaven the world could no longer see
the fullness of God in the flesh. But Jesus sent us Holy Spirit, who wrote
in the Bible the guidelines and standards by which God can be fully known
and understood. The Scriptures are sufficient in giving us the knowledge we
all need to be in our time of living here on earth until eternity. It is
God's revelation.
Today, not all Christians understand how to recognize the Voice of God.
Even when they do recognize it, many do not know how to respond to it so
it can be fulfilled. So God has set within the Body the ministry of the
Prophet as a special voice, because the coming of Holy Spirit, the birth
of the church, and the writing of the Bible did not eliminate the need
for the prophetic voice of the Lord. God still wants the revelation of
His Word to be vocalized.
Keep in mind: Prophetic ministry does NOT add to or subtract from the
Bible. Any new additions would be counterfeits, false doctrine which would
contain delusions that lead to damnation. Instead, the prophetic brings
illumination and further specifics about what has already been written.
Prophecy is to bring edification, exhortation, comfort. It can also bring
a word of correction, a word of judgment.
I've seen and experienced the prophetic ministry world - how the brethren
come running just to get a word. Typically the prophets will give a word
for the body, church, or region, then afterwards minister personal words to
individuals. I feel very strongly that a word to us from a true prophet of
God is a blessing. I believe God is generous with His words when we're
seeking the Word-giver and not the word, not the prophet. I've also seen
people chase after a word...when our Lord is desiring us to chase after only
Him, to take quality time to wait upon Him, to hear Him for ourselves. And
He LONGS to speak to us! He declares in His Word, John 10: 4-5: "And
when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep
follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow,
but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers".
Also, John 10:27: "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they
follow me:". So what am I saying. Yes, a prophetic word is a blessing,
and can encourage, uplift, bring clarification, revelation. But I add that
if you never in your life - from this day until the day Jesus Himself comes
back to this earth - meet a prophet, Jesus Christ will encourage and uplift
you Himself, He'll tell you what He wants for your life, then He'll bring
clarification and wisdom and revelation when you spend time and listen to
Him. He wants you to know and believe that He wants to speak to you, He
can and He will speak to you daily, hourly...the amount of time that we
spend with Him determines the amount of time He spends with us. He's
always right there...waiting for you to talk to Him, waiting for you to
respond. And yes, to head off legalism at the pass (so to speak) He can
and does speak to US first too. The key in all of this is to hear from
God, to know what He is saying to His Body, His Bride, His church, the
region, the country, the world, and to you.
Let me explain that a personal prophecy is what I'm speaking of when I say
"a word" - the Bible is THE Word; a prophecy is a "Rhema" word - a word
from The Word, or Word-giver, a thought from the throne, which is personal,
conditional, specific instructions for one person, and that can fail or
change. The Bible is LOGOS word - unconditional, eternal, the same for all
eternity, instructs all, is unchangeable, unfaling, The Throne of God.
In my case, when God released me into the church world, and I'd never before
experienced things like personal prophecy, everywhere I went, I'd get a
personal prophecy. It was..."The woman in the back in the purple sweater,
what's your name? Rhonda? Well, Rhonda, I hear the Lord saying that
you....". It was awe-inspiring at first (and still is, but I say unto you,
the longer you commune with God, the closer and more intimate you get to
Him, the more humbling and moving and meaningful each personal revelation
from Him becomes). Back then, it was kind of a greedy thing, like I HAD to
get a word every time I was out in the churches (because when every time I
went into a church I received a word; it felt like the norm and was something
that I wanted). Then, when I DIDN'T get a word every time I was let down.
THEN I met prophets that went from city to city delivering God's word - and
I'd get a word. And then they'd return and I'd want a another word, or a
longer word, or ANY word. It can become a real trap if you're in it for
the word - if getting a word validates you or some such thing.
Because the enemy (aka satan) gets hold of our fleshly desire for a word
(no, wanting a word isn't a sin or wrong - needing a word all the time to
fulfill "whatever" is the flesh) he then whispers in our ear, "No word for
you...ha ha ha ha ha". Or, "Wow, you didn't get a word, God must be mad at
you". Or, "You sinner, you didn't deserve a word...tsk tsk tsk". Please
know that our God is a jealous God, and He is willing and ready to talk to
us personally all the time....the problem comes when we are seeking to hear
from Him through another person (expecting others to hear from Him for us).
What I mean, and as I said before, you can talk to Him anytime you want to
talk to Him, you and Him, one on one, no other person required...just seek
Him! He does not, however, want us to rely on another person to hear God
for us. That's called balance. And NOW I HAVE balance in my own life in
this area - I've received big long really profound, deep prophetic words -
the last one about 2 years ago. But now I also just sit down in the quiet
of my room, in His presence, and praise and worship Jesus and He talks to me.
I've surrendered my entire life to Him and He directs my every moment of
every day - so we talk all the time because I've made myself and my life
available to Him. We have conversations; He tells me everything I need to
know at that moment and for that moment, for the future, whatever He feels
that I need to know. Does that mean that now I don't want a personal
prophetic word? Of course not! I want whatever God wants for me. What else
is there? My heart's desire is to always be in His perfect will, and I've
made myself available to Him 24-7; I now know that He talks to me when He
wants and/or needs to talk to me. You know, friend,in His word He spoke
through a DONKEY when someone needed to hear from Heaven, so do not hesitate
to trust and believe that if you need to hear from God, He will get His word
to you somehow, some way.
TRY IT - if you are born-again and have Holy Ghost living in you, TALK TO
GOD. And then be still before Him and let Him talk to you. Discernment
is key - because in this hour the counterfeit (satan) is looming, ready to
deceive you. Study the Word, find a ministry that believes in the prophetic
(and all the gifts of the Spirit). Let Holy Spirit lead you - be not deceived!
And ask God for true revelation.
Prophets are special to God's heart. He established the voice of the prophet
as His primary method of communicating with His creation. It was the
anointing of the prophet that enabled Adam, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac,
Jacob, Moses, David, Elijah and others to predict future happenings, to
receive instruction from God for new things that God, Himself, wanted to
do, to decree the prophetic future of their descendants, to receive
revelation on how to deliver His people from bondage, to build His
tabernacle. In fact, almost all of the Old Testament books were written
by prophets. And it was the prophets that predicted and prepared the way
for the coming of Messiah the first time He was here...and it will be
prophets that prepare the way for the coming of Messiah the second
time...soon and very soon.
It was a prophet (John the Baptist) who prepared the way for the ministry
of the Son of God. God said He's coming again - and prophets are in place
and will continue to be in place until that day of His Glorious Appearing.
God reveals His secrets unto His servants, the prophets. The Book of
Revelation declares that the prophets are to be instruments of God to
execute His judgments. Prophets are an integral part of all God is doing
on this earth, a vital part of all God has done and shall ever do in His
eternal plan for man.
God loves His TRUE PROPHETS. The ministry of prophet is the
only one in which God declares, "Do my prophets no harm". He that curses
one of God's true prophets incurs the curse of God. He that blesses a
prophet in the name of a prophet receives the same reward that God gives
the prophet. He says, 'believe His prophets and you shall prosper'
(Psalms 105:15; Matthew 10:41; 1 Corinthians 12:28; II Chronicles 20:20).
God is very precise and exact about His prophets. To touch one of His
prophets is to touch the apple of His eye. To reject God's prophets
is to reject God. To fail to recognize the prophets, or to keep them from
speaking, is to refuse God permission to speak.
There is much to know about the prophetic. I haven't even scratched the
surface.
The reason I wanted to introduce you to the prophetic is because it is vital
to hear what God is saying in this hour. There will be a lot of false
prophets/prophecies, but I will bring you only that which is true. Holy
Spirit reveals to me those which are relevant for this hour of our walks.
And again discernment is VITAL in this hour because there are a LOT of
"prophets" out there, a lot of prophecies and for every nation, situation,
event. It takes true discernment to know THE TRUE, and I'll humbly try to
do my best in offering only that which God wants to share with those who
read these pages (because He knows when you'll stop by and He knows what
you need to hear to be strengthened, encouraged).
The best books about the prophetic are by: Dr. Bill Hamon (who has prophesied
and taught prophecy for almost 50 years),Rick Joyner ("The Prophetic
Ministry); Mike Bickle ("Growing In The Prophetic); Jim Goll ("The Coming
Prophetic Revolution", "The Seer"); Graham Cooke ("Developing Your Prophetic
Gifting", "A Divine Confrontation"). There are also prophets whose words
ring true: Rick Joyner is one. Chuck Pierce another. There are more and
yes, mistakes can be made, but these are two who have been extremely
reliable.
If you have the prophetic gift, seek God daily - INTIMACY WITH THE
KING IS KEY. HUMILITY will be the lasting way to maintain your gift,
along with honor, truth, holiness. IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU and there's
absolutely nothing you could say without God that means anything eternal.
Our model is Jesus in all things. And Jesus Himself said, 'I only do that
which I see the Father doing...only speak that which I hear the Father
saying.' We have absolutely no right to speak/do anything apart from
the divine guidance of Almighty God. We are to submit, surrender, die
to self....exactly as Jesus submitted, surrendered and died for all.
Once you humble yourself and submit to crucifixion (death to self)
THEN you will be free to speak on His behalf, speaking only HIS
words, HIS heart and HIS thoughts. For only those things that He issues
forth can change lives, change nations.
NO COMPROMISE.
I am so excited to share this, especially if you are new to the prophetic.
If you're like me, a God-chaser, lover of the Bridegroom, captured and never
wanting to be set free because freedom comes within this capture, then you
probably want direction from God always and only - you want to know beyond
any shadow of a doubt that you are in His perfect will. Remember, determine
God's Word on every matter, His specific will about it and His way of
fulfilling it.
God's greatest delight is for His children to desire to do His will - to
take delight willingly in crucifying the flesh and fulfilling the desires
of His heart. If I can offer any counsel, please do not hesitate to let
me know.
