I Think About You
I wake up in the morning
And start to drive to work
I watch the dawning sunlight
Shine through treetops
Casting shadows that dance
Along the road
It is a new day
A new beginning
But you aren’t here
I think about you
When I go about my day
My hands routinely move and my body
Goes through the motions
Though my head is someplace else
I think about you
Because you aren’t here
And I wish you were
I’m coming home again
The sun is high behind me
I drive into the distance
Watching clouds that swirl
And I see the cars passing by with all
The people
I think about you as I
Turn onto Mission Road
And remember a time when you were here
When we used to be together
It’s time once more to go to sleep
I look at your pictures as I
Turn down the bed
I always sleep in alone
I close my eyes
And I think about you
While the birds chirp and sing
Outside my window
But it isn’t morning yet
The night is not near long enough
When I have dreams of you
I am startled awake
By the jolt of my alarm
I rub the sleep from my eyes
Wanting to stay in bed
And think about you
Again the sun is rising
Like all the days before
I am up and I am walking out the door
It’s hard for me to go
But I know I can’t stay
I find happiness in knowing
I can still think about you
Every minute of every day
I always think about you
