I saw Etta at Kerricks tonight, the first time since I spent the |
afternoon with her. I tried to speak with her alone but the |
other girls would not give me a chance. I will be even with |
them for it. |

Monday, July 21, 1890 |
I came to St. Cloud last night. Today Fred Hart and I went up |
to Sauk Rapids to the Republican County convention, this is |
my first lesson in "politics" it being the first convention I ever |
attended. I believe I would make a good politician. But I don't |
believe in laying money out to work getting an office and I |
never will unless I greatly change from what I am now. this |
evening Fred sister, Hilda and I went down to see Whitneys |
folks. Cora and Nell were at home both of them being our |
"old teachers" and we had not saw them for nine years what a |
good time we did have talking over "old times" and things |
that had happened since we last met. I have grown from a |
boy to a man. And I think my old teacher is as nice as any of |
the girls. and if our ages were a little more equal I would try to |
make a match. |
