The true meaning of "Christmas"
The winter solstice has been celebrated by peoples for eons before Jesus was born. While christianity was being forced down people's throats they refused to give up their holidays, so the church invented new meanings for them. Sorry, but the TRUE meaning of "Christmas" is NOT the birth of Jesus. It is the birth of hope. It is the darkest night before the dawn, so light candles to encourage light to come into the world. Since Halloween the wheel of seasons has turned and nature has "died" except for evergreens. They remind us that life remains, so be sure to have some holly or evergreen in your house as a visual reminder.
I'm not knocking anyone else's religion, but to say "Here is the truth" is a lie from the moment the words leave your mouth. "Truth" is only your perspective and your beliefs. I personally believe religion and intellect should go hand in hand with spirit. If you believe different then your truth is not mine.I'm not promoting any particular beliefs, but I do encourage you to keep your mind open and INVESTIGATE. Religion is very important and your shouldn't base your whole life on only one source of information.
That being said, remember that despite all our differences we should still be able to connect to each other in a spirit of kindness and charity, particularly within our own families, where karma has placed some of our biggest challenges. No, the true meaning of christmas is not the birth of Jesus, but the love he spoke of and the ideals he expressed IS. Peace. My other pages: Back to My Homepage:
