It's said that the common conversion experience for a pagan is to find that there is a name for the belief system you have developed.
I came to know I was a pagan in much this way. For me, Marion Weinstein's Positive Magic was a book that changed my life.
It's a gentle introduction to a gentle belief system.
And it does not let you forget that the power, and the control are yours.
I have never seen Marian Weinstein in person, although I would most like to do so.
I mostly work alone. I've been in circles with friends, but they never seem to last too long.
I try to go to workshops when I can, as they are a wonderful way to learn, to meet like-minded people, and to celebrate ritual.
The most consistent opportunity for me is The National Women's Music Festival, held in Bloomington Indiana each June.
The Festival features a spirituality track and brings in big name guests.
Some of the major workshop leaders I've met here are Margot Adler, Z Budapest, Shekhinah Mountainwater, and Luisah Teish.
Grailville, a women's community in Loveland, Ohio frequently sponsors programs on women's spirituality also.
Margot Adler has been especially important to me. Here's an interview with Margot, and another one. Her book Drawing Down the Moon is a wonderful resource.
Circle Sanctuary is something I think everybody should know about, a very good source of information and support.
Rosemary Edghill writes a very amusing series of mystery books, set in the New York City neo-pagan community, starring a witch named Bast.
Madeleine L'Engle's triology A Wrinkle in Time, A Wind in the Door, and A Swiftly Tilting Planet are wonderful books for pagan children of all ages, and for absolutely everyone.
Marion Zimmer Bradley's Avalon trilogy is also highly recommended reading. Beginning with The Mists of Avalon, and then stepping backwards in time to complete the story with The Forest House and The Lady of Avalon.
Moyra Caldecott's "Tall Stones" series-- The Tall Stones, The
Temple of the Sun, Shadow on the Stones, and The Silver Vortex is also highly recommended.
Wellesley is a neighborhood of women in GeoCities, and many of my neighbors are have information about their spiritual quests. You might to to check some of them out.
Ask the Oracle from The Matrix Space gives you readings from the tarot, the I Ching, and other oracles.
