Polly's Memorial

There is no "Polly's Page". Polly died from feline leukemia, an immune system disorder, April 9, 1998.

We think that she may have contracted the disease the two weeks between her weaning and the time she came to live with us. The subsequent vacinations did not help her. She lived for almost two years with the disease. We thought that she was just a sickly cat since she always seemed to have to have minor medical problems. We think that the healthier indoor enviroment kept her from dying much sooner.

We knew that she was seriously ill when she had stopped eating. Polly loved food as much as she loved petting. While she continued to take comfort from us, she would not even eat the most tasty of tidbits.

Our former vet said just to hang on, she would get better. We took her to another vet, who diagnosed her on the first visit.

She underwent quick and painless euthanasia in the vet's office.

Symptoms of Feline Leukemia

A blood test will diagnose the disease and decisions can be made after. Feline leukemia is incurable and fatal, but can be prevented. Please immunize your kitty.
