To Lose You

I don’t want to lose you,
But in a way, I already have.
So of course it doesn’t matter, right?

I don’t want to lose you.
So, I just held on too tightly.
And from that strangling hold you broke.

I didn’t want to lose you.
What we had was precious.
Is there any other way but fighting?

I didn’t want to lose you.
But that stranglehold had snapped.
And when it did you took flight from my suffocation.

I lost you and you lost me.
No longer any attraction.
All there was left was to wave goodbye.
