Greetings from Brownie Troop 563 !! Our Troop decided to celebrate Thinking Day by having an internation dinner. The girls decided what they would like to help their parents make for the dinner. We also asked to have enough servings to sell so that we could donate to the Thinking Day Fun . We donated $24.00 this year. The girls help serve the food for sale and then we enjoyed dinner ourselves. We had also read several of the stories about other countries from our Bronie Book. The Troop talked alot about how we are all connected to a l rger group of girls by means of the World Wide Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. It was a fun learning experience on planning and doing a larger activity. We have new 2nd graders in my Troop that have joined this year. My third graders are in their second year and are ready to bridge. I look forward to helping them plan their bridging at our next meeting. Good luck to everyone this year. Let's all try and remember as leaders we must act as the Girl Scouts in order to help guide our girls fo a better future. Everyone is in a learning mode througout this challenge of leading girls and helping one another is the only way we can succeed in this new millenium.

Thought you might be interested IMMEDIATE RELEASE LITTLE SHIP UNDER FULL SAIL In Celebration of the Legacy of Girl Scouting River Road Publication is proud to announce Little Ship Under Full Sail, Janie Lynn Panagopoulos’s fifth novel. Little Ship Under Full Sail is another of Panagopoulos’s powerfully moving historical stories created to make history “come alive” for readers third through eighth grade. Little Ship Under Full Sail is about the plight of young Nellie Lytle, the “to be” great-grandmother of Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scouts. It is a story based on the true account of Nellie Lytle and her kidnapping in 1779, during an Iroquoi uprising sparked by the American Revolution. Nellie, along with her mother and brother are kidnapped and pulled through the American wilderness until they are separated and Nellie, alone, is left to face her fate with her captives. This book is based on actual accounts of the Lytle family and the stories told to Juliette Gordon Low as a child growing up in war torn Savannah, Georgia. The story starts with little Juliette, her mother and her sister, traveling north to Chicago to saf ty during the Civil War. Greeted by her mother’s family the Kinzies, Juliette is told the stories of her family and that of another little girl, her great-grandmother, who lived through an incredible struggle. This taught Juliette courage and demonstrate to her the many generations of strong women in her family. After discovering her heritage, Juliette insists that her nickname be Nellie. The purpose for creating this novel, said Panagopoulos, “Was to celebrate the strength of this legendary family and help the reader to understand the legacy in which Juliette Gordon Low, herself, has handed down to countless young women around the world.” Over the past four years, author Panagopoulos, holding a life time membership in the Girl Scouts, has spoken to over 130,000 students and educators on the importance of learning about our Nation’s history, respect of cultural diversity, and the integrity f knowing the strengths of our own family’s past. Little Ship Under Full Sail, along with Panagopoulos’s other titles, may be ordered or purchased through any major bookstore, purchased at the bookstore in the home of Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, Georgia, by home computer on Amazon.com, barnesandnobl .com, or borders.com or through the publisher, River Road Publications at 800-373-8762.

Girls, Looks like your site is growing in the right direction. Nice job !! I also wanted to make a comment about those Gold Award Patches. Looking at both of you in the pictures, I think you have to many patches....if that's possible. I have many pair of jeans that could use a couple of those patches. Hey, you may get another patch for donating older patches that go to good use. There's a concept..... Enough fun ! Congradulations and I'm sorry I couldn't make it to your festivities, but I'm very proud of both of you... Keep up the good work and I'll make it over to see you soon.... David
