Kentucky's
Green County
Connections

Volume I

by
Joyce Peace Kessler

Green County, Kentucky, formed in 1792 from parts of Nelson and Lincoln counties, was home to some of the earliest families of the state. These families came primarily from Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

The land south of the Green River, which stretches horizontally across a large portion of the state, was set aside for the payment of military service in the American Revolution. Many soldiers and their families traveled across the mountains to claim their land and to make a home in what was to become Kentucky. They traveled on foot and by horseback, bringing as many of their possessions as possible. Discover how the nine members of the Graham family traveled to Kentucky from North Carolina through the Cumberland Gap.

After thirty years of careful research and many visits to the Green County area, Kentucky's Green County Connections, Volume I , explains in narrative form how many of these families are connected by marriage, some even down to the present time. Many of the same family names are found in Green County today.

There are over 5,000 names, an every-name index, 465 pages, and 29 chapters.
