NAME: Debora R. Lewis EMAIL: FFDEB@webtv.net OCCUPATION: Firefighter/EMT BIO: I retired from the United States Marine Corps in 1996 as a 1stSgt having served twenty years. Born and raised in Michigan, I had planned on going home. I was a voluteer firefighter and had just completed EMT school when the bug got me. I applied and was hired on as a full time firefighter in 1997. Being thirty eight years old was a concern for me, but my training as a Marine gave me the drive I needed. Having served as a drill instructor, a platoon gunnery sergeant in Saudi, and being a survivor of the "good old boys club" in the military, I knew I had one up. It was hard starting all over again, but I can't imagine doing anything else. I love fighting fire and I still pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming. Sometimes I feel it's a sin to collect a paycheck doing something that makes me so happy. I want to thank all those women who paved the road before me...I know we carry the torch now, and I for one will do nothing to let my sisters down. Be smart and be safe...
