December 17thI never got to bed last night until a quarter to one; not a wise thing when one gets up at 6:20 a.m. At least, not for me. I wasn't terribly awake when I got up to chat with Jevim, and my body was crying for me to go back to bed. We didn't really chat about much, but he said he was still worried about how his well made plans for moving back home and all had gone awry because of his finances. I really don't know what I can do to help, except be there for him; only "there" is here, and not with him. I went back to sleep, and Mom woke me in time to get ready and go get our hair cut. Mine is nice and short again, though it seems odd to see myself in the mirror; I was getting used to it being that in-between sort of length, but now it's boyishly short again, and much more manageable. Mom commented to Wanda, the hairdresser, that she missed my long hair. I said that I certainly didn't! It's much easier to take care of like this; my hair is naturally wavy, and when it's long, the underneath parts get tangled in knots very easily. No knots now; it's been short for a year and eight months and I plan to keep it that way! After our hair was done, we came home and I sat down here and got to work. I started a fresh Frontier database, and I've pulled all my pages from my site into it and am giving them an update. It's going to be a good deal of work, and I'll have to wait until it's all done to upload everything, because I'm changing the naming format of the entries since Frontier doesn't like a numeric as the first character. It does weird things to the Next/Previous list, and I want that function to work right to make my job easier! So far, I've got most of the files (except for some from November which only seemed to exist at Geocities and maybe on Jevim's hard drive) imported, but I have yet to go through and take out all the navigation and goodies, leaving just the text. Then I get to figure out how to do separate templates for the non-entry pages, get my next/prev's all working, and then tear most everything down from GeoCities and upload the fresh copies. Sound like fun? The hard part will be to keep from getting tired of the work, wandering off, and not getting it done; procrastination is my middle name. I already want to go off and curl up with my book for a while, but I'm going to at least try to get the entries sorted out first. Back to work for me, or I'll find something to distract me for sure! I'll probably make another entry later... |
