December 28th9:43pmWell, Jevim's back in Maryland with his dad, and he just called to talk for a bit. They got most of his stuff packed up, and are going to pick up the rental truck in the morning. Hopefully the weather will hold, and they'll be able to load up and head back to West Virginia tomorrow afternoon. I spent my day cleaning up my room a bit, playing computer games, and watching videos with Mom. I worked some on Jevim's afghan while we watched E.T. and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. I wouldn't have minded watching Sleepless in Seattle, but Mom had already pulled it out and watched it earlier this week. We're going to go up to Iowa next Friday, I think Mom said, to visit her aunt and uncle. I hate going up there, but she says her aunt misses me, and since we'd only be going for a day and coming back that evening, I guess I can put up with the continuous eye-burning cigarette smoke and the racist and homophobic remarks thrown in. I don't give a flying flip when Mom's aunt grew up, this is 1997, not the 1860s, and I shouldn't have to hear the "N word" every twenty minutes. One of these days she's going to say something and really piss me off, and I'm going to actually say something about it. Yeah, right... Anyway, I'll take Jevim's afghan to work on in the car; I won't take it in the house, I don't want it to reek of cigarettes. I know I've been missing in action here a couple days; the 26th, Mom got me up at 5:30 in the morning to go to Wal-Mart with her for their after Christmas clearance. I bought some candy, some Sarah Michaels raspberry bath stuff, a string of multicolored indoor lights, and a couple other little things, and spent about $25. oops, just remembered I haven't entered that into my money file yet... Yesterday we went down to the mall and I bought a Gund teddy bear at Target (not half price, but about 33% off), another outfit at Penney's ($52, ouch!) and got a couple gifts for my friends up in Minnesota; we always mail each other late Christmas packages... I got mine in February one year! Just got company in my IRC hangout, so I don't know how coherent the rest of this entry is going to be. Part of me is tempted to pull out a calendar and start counting the days until Jevim graduates. A little silly, I know, since it's well over a year in the future... but... I dunno, I'd like to have a figure. I guess it would help to know when graduation ceremonies are, wouldn't it? There's not really anything else to type about, so I'll say goodnight... Goodnight! |
