10:33pm
Better late than never? I've been busy today... got up in time to talk to Jevim, stayed up and started working on HTML stuff (I found out that my pages don't check out very well with the HTML validator, so I'm in the process of fixing them), and Mom asked if I wanted to go to Wal-Mart, so I got dressed and went out into the living room and she said it was too early, it was only 7:45. So I came back and edited more, and then we left around 9am.
Wal-Mart had Riven, the CD-ROM sequel to Myst that I've been waiting for since I first heard it was coming out. They had 20 copies (I counted) sitting behind the register, but they said they couldn't sell them until the 30th. *sigh* And I was really hoping to buy a game, 'cause I've been feeling bored and antsy. As if I don't have enough games that I don't play already? Sheesh! ;)
Anyway, after Wal-Mart, Mom wanted to do some running around, and we did wind up at Hallmark downtown, but they didn't have any of the new Cherished Teddies that I saw in the latest newsletter *pout* so I didn't buy anything there. On the way home (Mom went in a few other places but I waited in the car for her for the most part), she said if I bought her lunch tomorrow, she'd take me down to Columbia to the mall so I could look in the Hallmark store there, so that will be two days in a row I've gotten out and about.
Came back home and got back to work. Oh, and I managed to get in as a full student in my HTML class! Only a bit over a week late. ;) Anyway, I'm happy about that, and I did my first assignment and posted it, and have been surfing for more information on Cascading Style Sheets. I think I finally get them, after how many times I've tried, so I'm a happy camper.
Jevim stayed at work rather late, and then went out to dinner and to the bookstore, and didn't get home until it was almost time for my Internet Law class meeting, so we didn't really do much on IRC but chat a little. The class ran two and a half hours (ack!) and so I wound up calling him from the other phone line since I was logging the chat and didn't want to interrupt it.
On the phone, I mentioned to him that I'd seen some Precious Moments wedding giftwrap at WalMart today when I was out and it made me wish it was about 2 years from now so he and I could get together. He said something to the effect of, "Well, it's kinda hard to plan for after married if I haven't proposed yet, isn't it?" and I reminded him that he'd said he didn't want a long engagement. He said that he'd said that quite a while ago, and now it wouldn't be nearly as long an engagement. *smile* So... maybe, just maybe, next time we're together....
Actually, he started teasing me saying that I could propose to him, and that I could get him a coal engagement ring. I said I could just imagine myself walking into a jeweller's and asking for a coal ring, and he reminded me that he's from West Virginia, which is coal mining country, and they actually have them, there. So... now how do I get to West Virginia to buy him a ring?
We got off onto talking about gold and class rings, and he said that he barely got a class ring at all, his dad thought it was a waste of money, but his mom had offered to melt down her class ring so he could have a gold class ring. He wouldn't let her, of course, and so his is seladium or somesuch, but I don't care what it is, as long as it's his. (I wear his class ring on a silver chain, since it's too big for any of my fingers.)
He got to talking about his dad, and wishing he could just get away from him... I don't know what to say, then, since with me it's just the opposite... I wish I could get away from my mom, and spend some time with my dad. But anyway... *sigh* He eventually got too sleepy to talk, and headed off to bed, but he nearly succeeded in putting me to sleep, too.
The gang's showing up on IRC, so I'll wrap this up and try to do better tomorrow. G'night!
