8:08 PM: Almost to Albert Lea, MN

We're on the road, Interstate 35 south from the Twin Cities, and I've been cross stitching for the last hour or so, but I decided to stop and watch the sky as the sun sets.

The clouds are just gorgeous, and I wish I had the camera handy, but it's in the trunk. The view out the window on the driver's side is gently rolling prairie, interspersed with trees (still green), and fields of corn and soy. Nothing spectacular, but serene and relaxing. Now, the sky is filled with low, grey clouds, but a little bit ago, there were still breaks where the blue was peeking through, and the sun made the cloud tops pink and gold, the bottoms shades of lilac and blue greys. So pretty it reminded me of a watercolor painting.

We just turned onto Interstate 90, heading west toward South Dakota, and I can see pale streaks of sky, the lightest blues and roses between the clouds. We saw a hot air balloon as we were heading out of the metro area, and I wonder what it would be like, to be floating above the cornfields, nothing but sky in any direction, letting the breeze take me where it will.

I guess there wasn't much by way of restaurants in Albert Lea, because we passed it a few miles back! We were going to stop there for dinner. Hopefully we'll find something before too much longer.

Just a few more days, and I'll be back home again. *sigh* I'll hop on the bus Monday night, and Tuesday morning Mom will pick me up in Columbia, which isn't that far from home.

I really don't miss Westhaven (where I live), and as far as the people there, I only miss Mom a bit, and the cats of course. Jev bought me the little Siamese Beanie Baby cat the last day we went to The Mall, and the girls have four cats, but it's just not the same. I miss my cat, and Mom's too. And I miss my computer, and having a separate phone line. While Jev was here, I really didn't have time to miss those things.

It's getting too dark to write, so I'll try to get more in later at the motel. If not, then tomorrow for sure.
