A Pocketful of Pansies
March 5, 1998
Mom really shocked me today. When she noticed I was up this morning, she asked if I'd want to go to Wal-Mart later, and I said sure. She knew I'd bought the first bit of the dish set for myself, and she'd said we probably ought to buy the rest pretty quick, since some of the things were on clearance and might disappear fast.
Well, she ended up spending well over $100 on me... bought the dishes which weren't yet on clearance, some extra plates and bowls and a serving platter (which she spoke to someone in the department and they got a reduction on them for us from the manager), 8 large glasses, the canister set, the tea set, placemats and dish towels. I'm in pansy heaven. *chuckle*
I didn't think she would actually buy all that, but she did... I'm still in shock and still trying to figure out where to put all this stuff for the next year or so until Jevim and I can move in together permanently.
We also ran around town a little, visited her two lady friends who had called and checked up on me while she was gone in California, and they asked me what I was going to do with Jevim when he got here. Really, I don't have any definite plans yet... maybe a movie, the mall down in the city, a picnic at the park if the weather is nice, drive to the next town over and go to their used book store... I don't much care what we do together, I just want to be able to relax and spend the time with him.
Last time we were together for Spring Break, we were at Connie's and Emma was there with us and the four of us went to Kansas City to see "The Phantom of the Opera" and we enjoyed that, but I think we'll enjoy just being together, too.
