after midnight
Well, Jev finished up his interview with the big 'puter company in North Carolina, and as he left, they gave him an envelope with a letter. He didn't open it until some time later, afraid that it would be bad news, and needing someone to talk to if it was. He ran into a friend from school, and so he opened it. It most definitely wasn't bad news. It was, in fact, good enough news that now I'm sitting at the computer at 12:30 AM, looking at properties in the area. I've been looking at the various chambers of commerce and such, and the Raleigh-Durham area looks very nice... maybe even better for me climatewise than Maryland would have been.
They have lots of good hospitals and doctors, somewhat more temperate winters (or so it seems), and a decent cost of living. I've been websurfing, and found a really darling little house, though I don't imagine it's the one we'll wind up in, even if we do move there. It's still nice to imagine, though.
Hmm, can someone explain to me what a "garden tub" is? I've seen it in property listings twice now, and it's got me confuzzled. Oh well, it's not hard to confuzzle me, as late as it is, as much chocolate as I've had, and as excited as Jev's job offer has made me.
Did I mention that Jev is stuck in Charlotte, NC overnight? His plane from Charlotte to Roanoke was overbooked, and so he opted to wait for another flight and take the voucher for a round trip anywhere in the continental us or canada. The airline put him up in the Embassy Suites overnight, since the next flight that was convenient for him was in the morning... must be nice! The ticket voucher should cover my trip to see him over Christmas, so I can start saving up for our moving fund again, as I've been spending way too much lately; his job offer also included relocation funds, so we should have enough to get us both moved and hopefully buy a few necessities too... like a big bed! :)
Speaking of bed, I should be going, but I'm getting more wound up as I write this... maybe I should stop for now. I'm so excited! Jev's still got interviews with a few other companies, but this one sounds so great, I think it would take a lot to change his mind.
