Yay, Jev's writing an entry! I'm 'encouraging' him now and then with a back scratch, but it sounds like he's doing fairly well, even without that. I was kinda afraid that he'd given up on his journal.
I was a little out of sorts today, though I'm, not really sure why. Jev seems to think it might be the Borage Oil I've been taking to help with my PMS. I'm not sure that it's not... but I don't want to quit taking it just yet. We'll see...
I think a little of my moodiness was just feeling stuck in a rut; it seems like Civ II, cross stitch, and eating have dominated my time the last few days, and I needed a bit of a change.
I skipped breakfast -- not my favorite meal anyway -- and though Jev and I did stitch and listen to music for a few hours again today, we haven't played Civ II at all. And then this evening, to break the monotony a bit more, we decided to go out for dinner, and run around a bit, too.
We made the rounds at Wally World (what else is there to do in a small town?), then hit the music/book/software store, and Hallmark, where I finally got to see the Cherished Teddies carousel figurines that I've been looking for. I was a good girl though, and kept the plastic in my wallet, where it belongs. I may go back before I go home though....
We had dinner ad Shoney's, which was... well.... Jev ordered Chicken Stir Fry, and when it came there wasn't any chicken in it. Our server was nice and took care of the problem without a fuss, though. Then there was a small problem with the bill, but that was easily fixed as well, and the lady at the register was very nice about the matter. Gotta give it to the small-town people for being polite!
I remember my first night as a resident of the state of Misery... Mom was bringing me 'home' from the airport, and stopped to get a paper out of a machine. She didn't have any coins, so she sent me into the nearby grocery store with a dollar, to get change. I was tired and cranky and anxious to just get off the road, and really didn't want to do it, figuring I'd encounter the typical cashier who really didn't want to be bothered with making change, but the girl at the register was nice about it, and at that point you could have knocked me over with a feather. Guess living in a 'greater metropolitan area' does have its drawbacks.
