Neverending Story

Welcome!

When I Dream . . .

. . .Where Do I Go?

Picqued your curiosity, huh? You are in for a wonderful journey! I have this dream over and over and over . . . for it involves my favorite place in the whole world! Even though I have not been many places so far in this life, Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island will always be "home" to my soul and spirit, for there you will find yourself surrounded by many of God's wondrous creations . . . mountains, streams, hills, meadows, valleys, lakes, rivers, misty fog, trees, flowers, and most of all . . . the sea.

Ahhhh, the sea. A constant part of me, being a Pisces and all. It is in my soul. Even though I am not able to travel to it as much as I'd like to, my soul yearns for it . . . can hear it's constant calling . . . can feel it's constant tugging to be near it . . . to walk along the shore with it lapping at my feet . . . to sit on the rocks and just watch it perform, mezmerized by it's power and beauty.

Getting back to my dream . . . my favorite views of the ocean are from Acadia National Park . . . lighthouses, thunderhole, Sand Beach, the list goes on.

But nothing compares to the views of the ocean from Cadillac Mountain. My favorite time is at sunrise. Cadillac Mountain is the very first place on the east coast to receive the sun's first rays, and sitting there watching everything "wake up" is truly an experience you won't forget. Everthing is so still, quiet, and peaceful ~ the mountain and the islands below blanketed in a romantic, misty fog. As the sun slowly comes up, it gently nudges everthing awake. The fog moves lazily along, stretching from it's night's rest, leaving the grass, trees, and flowers kissed awake with the morning dew. You begin to see movement in the towns below, and you can watch the lobstermen heading out to see to begin their day's work. The birds finally awaken and offer their songs. Then the seagulls . . . some call them scavengers, but I call them beautiful. They are a magical part of the sea and a very important part of my dream. Here comes one now . . . are you ready?

He lands on a rock a few feet away from me, and I watch him as he preens himself, making sure his white is white and beautiful. He stops and looks at me, and I continue to watch him. My spirit whispers, "Take me with you". He pauses for a moment . . . then spreads his wings slowly, and as he leaves the rock, I feel my spirit lift and soar . . .

I love the feel of the sea breeze on my face and in my hair. My spirit clings to him as he takes me down the mountain, over the trees, over majestic granite cliffs with sheer faces that drop into the sea, out over the ocean. We fly over Egg Rock Lighthouse, seals enjoying the morning sun on the rocks. We're out over the ocean again, flying over a lobster boat as the lobsterman checks a trap before he drops it over the side into the ocean. We move toward land again over Sand Beach where other seagulls are feeding on crabs left on the beach by last night's tide, inland further over crystal clear lakes, tranquil coves, and inlets. We're soaring up again, over the trees, down into the meadows, brooks moving lazily along, up over The Bubbles at Jordan Pond House, the crew at Jordan Pond House getting the lawn reading for the daily crowds. We're over Thunderhole now, the incoming tide crashing against the rocks and thundering in our ears, crowds already beginning to form. We're out over the ocean again where I can see the "cottages" of the rich and famous along the shore. We move inland again towards the picturesque town of Bar Harbor where tourists are walking along The Shore Path. We head back up towards Cadillac Mountain where the pink granite is sparkling in the sun. He swoops down and lands majestically on the same rock as before, and my spirit reluctantly climbs off and makes its way back to me. He and I exchange an understanding glance as I thank him, and then he is gone, leaving me with a peacefulness and a soul satisfied until the yearning becomes too great to ignore again.

A great dream, huh? Wanna try it? Quick . . . here comes another seagull!
