Below you will find the letter I e-mail to the cheif of police asking for more help and support from our police department when I didn't know if my daughter had runaway or not.
Dear Mr. Hansen,
I am writing you becuase I am not getting any response from your staff.
A couple of years ago I was proud to be a Lodian because of your efforts to
find Katie Rominak. I was even impressed to see your efforts to improve the
department when reading an article in the Lodi News-Sentinal a couple of
months ago. Now I'm not even sure if I want to be a resident of Lodi or
even let anyone know I live here.
I have a 13 year old daughter named Trinie Olson. On Tuesday I let her go
visit a friend on Adobe Court (we live on Lambert Court) and she was to be
home at 5:00 p.m. At this time she did call me and say she was in Stockton
with this friend. I mentioned to her that she did not ask permission to go
and that she needed to get her BUTT home and when she did get home she
would be on restriction. I have not seen or heard from her since, it is now
4:30 p.m thursday afternoon. I reported her missing at about 8:45 a.m
Wednesday morning. I have reported my daughter missing a couple of times
before and she has come home or been located a few hours after the report
and I figured that she would come home some time that night.
Since this report I have found out that she got a ride to Lockeford to see
some boys she meet a couple of days prior, I have heard from one of these
boys and he states that he was in Lodi that day. I have tried since 10:00
this morning to contact someone in your department to see what has been
done and to see if maybe she could be in danger, like having been abducted
by a stranger, but after getting tranfered all over for about 1/2 hour I
was finally told that Henry Guerra handles missing persons and runaways. I
have left two messages with him since about 11:00 this morning with no
response.
I feel that something is wrong here. I know my daughter has been missing in
the past, but she has always come home. I feel that she went to Lockeford
to see these boys and was planning on coming home that night. Even though
she knew she was going to be on restriction, this has never been a big deal
for her, especially with school starting the 1st of July. I think that she
may have tried to hitchhike home and was picked up by some stranger and
?????????. The reasons that lead me to believe this are: She did not take
anything with her, not even a change of clothes, she has a babysitting job
that she just loves and has not even called in sick with the mother there,
she had very little money, and NO ONE HAS SEEN HER!!!!!!!!!!
Please help me with this situation or I will see if I can't get any help
from the press.
Michele Olson
NOTE: Along with this letter I e-mailed I asked my visitors to e-mail the police department. I'm unsure of how many actually did.
A few days after I sent this letter I recieved a phone call from Mr. Guerra informing me that he has been at this training school and would not be back for a couple of weeks. He also told me that he doesn't usually call when he is in triaing, but he heard the desperation in my vioce when he checked his messages. Just him calling help clear up some of my concerns and the things I was being told by other officers. A couple of more days after his phone call I had two dectectives come to the house and search Tinie's room looking for clues to her whereabouts. A couple of months later Trinie ranaway again and was gone for about a week and a half with no response from the police department. This time I did not want to press matter because I knew she was a runaway.
With the differnces in the way things were handled between the two cases it shows me the power of the internet.
