How to Subscribe to OPSS
Subscription to this list is by owner registration. If
you are interested in signing up, please fill out the
questionaire and forward it here,
with OPSS in the subject line.
1) Please type your e-mail address, firstname and lastname:
2) Are you at least 30-40 pounds overweight? (The majority of
women on
the list are 200+ and 300+)
3) Are you pregnant? If so, when are you due? If not, how long
have
you been trying?
4) Are you pregnant after infertility or miscarriage?
5) If you have not experienced infertility or pregnancy loss, do
you
feel you can be sensitive to members who have been through this?
More
than 15% of the population has a fertility problem - that's 1 in
6
couples - and 25% of pregnancies end in loss. OPSS members who
are
pregnant after these experiences may need some extra support
because
the fears don't go away simply because one is pregnant. Is this
something you understand and feel you can be supportive of
whether or
not you have been through something similar?
6) We like to have everyone write an introduction that will be
posted
to the list as soon as your application to the list is accepted
(i.e.,
you will be added to the listserv and the listowner will post
your
introduction immediately afterward). Your intro should be
somewhat
detailed in order to help you better connect with listmembers.
Sample intro:
Hi, my name is Jane and I am pregnant with my first child. I live
in
Ohio with my husband, John, and our pets - 2 dogs, a cat, and a
couple
of canaries. We were trying to get pregnant for 5 years. I got
pregnant once on 150mg of Clomid, but miscarried. We finally
succeeded
on a Fertinex/IUI cycle. The baby is due on June 1, 1998 and
we're
very excited, but also nervous.
My doctor has told me that since I weigh 290 pounds, I don't need
to
gain any weight when I am pregnant. He also said it was OK if I
gained
up to 25 pounds, but it would be best not to gain more than that.
I
won't be treated as high risk due to my size, but I am getting a
few
extra ultrasounds early on because of my previous loss.
I'm concerned about issues such as finding pregnancy clothes in a
size
28, finding a breast pump for large breasts, and in finding baby
accessories like slings and snugglies that might fit someone my
size.
I look forward to getting to know everyone,
Jane
