THE LEGEND OF THE DOVE
One day God needed to send a message to earth. All of his angels were busy. So he looked around heaven for a messenger. He spotted some newly arrived spirits and had an idea. He created the dove.
The dove became the messenger for the heavens. It relays messages from the angels on high to those who have been left behind. The dove brings messages of hope, peace, and love. He brings reminders from above that an angel is watching, is caring, that we are not alone.
When you see a dove in flight or pick up a feather, it is a treasure from above. It is a reminder that your angel is watching and not to be afraid. For the dove brings love, peace, and hope. It is the spirit of a loved one who has left us and passed to the next life. It is the memory of love once shared.
This legend was told to me by my mom when I was very small. It was her way of trying to help me accept the death of a grandmother. Even as an adult, I still believe in the dove and the message it brings.
As long as a person remains a treasured memory, the person his not gone; but lives within us. The spirit watches over us, gives us comfort for our pain, shares our joy. If you watch a starry night, you can see the spirit watching us. If you listen to the wind, the spirit will speak to us. If you see a dove, listen, for there is a message for you. When you find a dove's feather, it is sign that you are not alone.
