Kia ora koutou, welcome to my corner of the World Wide Web

To introduce myself, I am a New Zealander, fifth generation both sides, at the moment living in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. New Zealand or Aotearoa to give it an earlier and more accurate name, is a land of immense charm, natural beauty and many creative individuals. New Zealanders realised early on the potential of the Web and are very well connected to it and involved in it's development. So it has been wonderful to be in Boston where it all started and .... I am thoroughly enjoying the contrasts, the curiosities, the electronic environment and the diverse possibilities here. It is such a relaxed yet vibrant city.

I have always travelled widely and spent 3 years in 1983-1985 living in England. My partner has just won a position in London so we are now engaged in the exciting process of relocating to England,for 1999 and beyond, via a holiday in New Zealand of course. My intention is to win a position in London, or nearby, that brings together my interests in technology, in how adults learn and in information literacy.

My professional background combines teaching, librarianship, administration and technology in many forms. I have taught students and staff to use computer databases in an academic library, taught adult students literacy and life skills in a polytechnic and set up and run courses to introduce women to technical and computer skills, among many other things.

• I have now completed my final and most significant project - an electronic bibliography in the area of computer-based and web teaching in libraries, also as a distance student from Victoria University.
  

Things I am fascinated by

• The explosion of Internet advertising and it's influence on the much wider area of information literacy
• Photography, especially images of minute, invisible worlds
• Dance, a universal, near perfect non-verbal form of communication and how it is modelled electronically
• People's entirely different experience of time, especially in the context of the global village
• How travelling changes your view of your own culture
• How the prevalence of a graphical computer world changes how we see ourselves, and how it affects our memories of events
