I haven't spoken yet about what I have been through as a child, but I'm recovering from a domestic abuse incident right now and have been through the same sex abuse like you as a child, and also raped as an adu t. I came to this site looking for ways to get over domestic violence. Comments: hi. i just turned 19. i think my stepdad is abusive. my real dad died when i was 8. my mom died when i was 12. from when i was 9-12 my stepdad showed my mom how to control me and my little sister. after she died he got much much worse. whenever i thi k about leaving i stop myself because i have to watch out for my little sister. sometimes when she gets in trouble i take the blame. my stepdad is very controling. he makes me feel powerless. he is very harsh and demanding. he still spanks us. he doe it very hard. he makes me cry a lot. it's so humiliating. i just want to curl up in a ball and cry talking about it. i was brought up to believe that he is not abusing me. that as long as im under his roof i haveto listen or get in trouble. i still ave trouble accepting that what he does is not right. i guess sometimes i deserve what i get. i am so confused. i do not talk about this with anyone. it is really embarasing. it makes me feel ashamed. i only talk to my sister and my best friend abou it but she is worse off than me and my sister are. part of me hopes me and my sister are alone. part of me hopes theres someone out there like us to talk to. do you know what i mean? tammy

I don't really think that they've helped at all. I remember you as so outgoing and friendly and funny and pretty and it was al ays a good time hanging with you. I envied these qualities in you and wished I knew how to be that way! I felt shy and inhibited and ugly beyond belief. Of course people are complicated and nothing is as it seems to us on the surface, especially when w are growing up. It is just these qualities that probably got you through everything because people would never think that you could have any problems you couldn't handle, for one, and for two, you knew how to hide everything, smart girl!
