This is definitely my favourite book. It's a book that all women should own. It's funny, informative, and a great book to read when you've got the blues. Buy it!
This is one of my all-time favourite books. It is a (fictional) novel where the Royal Family of England gets kicked out of Buckingham Palace and is forced to live on Welfare (or the British equivalent thereof).
Another favourite, referred to me by my mother. It's a story about a young Japanese woman who's mother dies, and she is forced to look her fears and sadness in the eye and recover.
This is a great collection of short stories by a truly amazing author. My favourite is "A Perfect Day for Bananafish."
Now I know you've probably all seen the movie of Emma with Gwenyth Paltrow (at least I hope you have...it was really good!), but it is NOTHING like the book itself. It is a marvelous example of really good literature.
This is without a doubt the best Cranberries album (and that's saying a lot...the Cranberries are really good!). I played the cello and sang "Dreaming My Dreams" with Laura two years ago. This is one of the few CDs that I can listen to without skipping songs!
Another excellent CD, almost as good as the movie. My favourite song here is "Free" by the Martinis. One negative comment: I loved "Sugar High" in the movie, but what happened here? Not only is there no part for Renee Zellweger, but there are lewd words!!
I LOVE this CD!!!!! And I love the movie, too! Great songs on this CD: "Kissing You" by Des'ree, "Lovefool" by The Cardigans, "Everybody's Free" by Quindon Tarver, "To You I Bestow" by Mundy, "Little Star" by Stina Nordenstam and "You And Me Song" by The Wannabes. And almost as good as the music: the cool pictures and words from the movie inside!
The title song here is so much better than the Fugees version. I'm serious. "Jesse" is another great song, too.
This is probably the most soothing album I have. It is especially good when you have a cold, with menthol tissues, herbal tea, Ricola cough drops and syrup and a hot water bottle. And a good book (see above). #1 song on this CD is "Anywhere Is." Love it, love it, LOVE IT!
This has got to be one of the greatest holiday movies ever. I'd watch it all year round, except then it wouldn't be as special. Major Bonus: it is a great movie to make you feel better when you're sad or depressed (like George Bailey).
This is a Marx Brothers Movie, and they're always good. I love the singing and singing in it. It's absolutely great!
This is one of the best suspense/drama movies I've ever seen. It's a tad bit scary, but that's just fine with me. And Audrey Hepburn is amazing! Also, the theme song is really cool.
Now that I'm on an Audrey Hepburn tangent, I'll have to include her first movie: Roman Holiday. In this superb black-and-white, Audrey Hepburn is a princess who runs away from the embassy while she is visiting Rome. She has a fling with this reporter guy, and overall it's just a really worthwhile movie. (if you want even more Audrey Hepburn, try Sabrina or Funny Face)
Singing in the Rain is one of my favourite musicals. It's about the beginning of "talkie" movies, and has a cute little romance between Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds. My fave song in this one is "I Would, Would You?"
