PEARLS OF WISDOM

This page is a collection of pieces of wisdom that
I've picked up from here, there and everywhere.
They are all anonymous, or were when they came
to me. If you know who authored any of them,
let me know and I'll credit them, OK?
Each of these has been of benefit to me and others.
If they mean nothing to you, come back another
day and they just might by then!

How to Love Yourself
1. Stop all criticism.
Criticism never changes a thing. Refuse to criticise yourself. Accept yourself exactly as you are. Everybody changes. When you criticise yourself, your changes are negative. When you approve of yourself, you changes are positive.

2. Don't scare yourself.
Stop terrorising yourself with your thoughts. It's a dreadful way to live. Find a mental image that gives you pleasure (like yellow roses) and immediately switch your scary thought to a pleasure thought.

3. Be gentle and kind and patient.
Be gentle with yourself. Be kind to yourself. Be patient with yourself as you learn new ways of thinking. Treat yourself as you would someone you really loved.

4. Be kind to your mind.
Self hatred is only hating your own thoughts. Don't hate yourself for having the thoughts, gently change the thoughts.

5. Praise yourself.
Criticism breaks down the inner spirit. Praise builds it up. Praise yourself as much as you can. Tell yourself how well you are doing with every little thing.

6. Support yourself.
Find ways to support yourself. Reach out to friends and allow them to help you.It is being strong to ask for help when you need it.

7. Be loving to your negatives.
Acknowledge that you created them to fulfil a need. Now you are finding new positive ways to fulfil those needs. So lovingly release the old negative patterns.

8. Take care of your body.
Learn about nutrition. What kind of fuel does your body need to have optimum energy and vitality? Learn about exercise. What kind of exercise can you enjoy? Cherish and revere the temple that you live in.

9. Remember to breathe.
Your breath is your life line to mental, emotional and physical balance. Notice the times when your breath is shallow or interrupted. Remind yourself to take full and connected breaths throughout the day.

10. Do it now.
Don't wait until you get well or lose the weight or get the new job or the new relationship. Begin now - do the best you can.

How to act like you're still using!
1. Never miss a chance to take yourself seriously.

2. Cherish your resentments.

3. Treat your partner as a sex object.

4. Treat your children and your friends as extensions of    your ego.

5. Reserve deep affection only for your pet or your car or your hobby or someone who lives far away.

6. Isolate rather than engage, quit rather than negotiate.

7. Fantasise about the ultimate humiliation of everyone against whom you have a resentment.

8. Don't do today what you can blame someone else for not having done tomorrow.

9. Employ behind-the-scenes manipulation whenever possible.

10. Feel sorry for yourself at least three times a day.

11. Be sure to point out other peoples' faults and failures. For their own good, of course.

12. Accept no authority but your own.

How Does it feel?
We often don't know the names for our feelings, being
able to name what you feel like is a very useful tool because
you can't change something (or look for it again!) if you don't know
what it is. Try thinking about how many 'positives' you can call
'happy', and how many 'negatives' you react to by being angry.
