This
is my lovely old friend, Sirrocco.
This
background set was first made for an 'awards' page
while
he was
strong and hearty, he has since developed
osteo-myelitis
in the jaw, which may have been fatal
but
he recovered from, only to fall victim to bone and
throat
cancer shortly after.
He
was my best friend, he passed away on the 5th.
January
1999. If you look closely you'll see
his beautiful
mum,
Shadowdancer, behind him, I also loved
her dearly.
She
and I were co-mothers to all our children! Shadow
died
of arthritis in 1997, she had
been plagued by it for
years.
Ironically, she survived
the cancer that was
removed
from her stomach
the year before.
Good
dogs die of old age, it's all I could have wished
for
them. Eleven and twelve is old age for German
Shepherds,
these ailments are common. The saddest
part
of loving is having to let go.
Now
that they're both gone, a very special era
in
our lives is over.

He wasn't well
at the time, showing that
he'd become an
'old dog', and we thought
he'd never grow
up!
