       Welcome to My Lyrics Page

Music keeps me alive.  I love to listen, and I love to grab my guitar and sing.  Although I have written several songs, I can't just sit down with pen and paper and compose a song.  I have tried it many times and it just does not work.   My songs come to me in a flash.  I may be driving down the road, playing a song on my guitar and bam, the song is there buzzin' 'round my head.  They come from real events in my life, and often appear after dreaming about the emotions depicted in the songs the night before.  I know its wierd...but it happens and its wonderful when it does.

    I don't have enough web space to keep a real audio clip of each song here, so I will rotate them every so often.  For now listen to Lady Of The Morning.  This is the first song I ever wrote and was written in 1981.  It is still my favorite.

The soundtrax for Lady of the Morning were recorded using an eight track Tascam portable recorder,
      Roland sampler, and a Yamah midi keyboard

 .   The only live portions in the recording are my voice and my guitar.  All of the other instruments were sampled     by the Roland sampler and played on a Yamaha midi keyboard by Brian Marine of Hampden, who is responsible for the beautiful arrangement.  Brian also played and created all of the instruments in the recording, using his sampler and his keyboard.

    This recording is an example of what modern technology has brought to music.

   I hope you like it. :-)

                       Lady of the Morning

 You are my Lady of the Morning, pretty face and lots of grace.
 You bring nice things to me, yeah, Let's see who we can be.

                    (chorus)
 And I want to lie here forever, kissin' your sweet lips and sippin' red wine.
 You are my Lady of the Morning,  You make me feel so high.

You are my Lady of the Midday, and I sure do love when you come out to play.
 Sit down and sing a  song with me,  leanin' against that old oak tree.

  (sing chorus once) (add midday)

You are my Lady of Tomorrow, You passed the test of time with me.
 flute shrills, and harmony, God bless these things you are to me.

(repeat chorus) add tomorrow)

    I AM A MAN                   (c. 1994 by Reid D. Albee)

I am a man,  yet I have feeling.
I am what I am,  I do not always find it appealing.
How do I grow warm, and learn kinder ways?
How do I grow deeper, and get lifted from the haze?

I am a man, yet I cannot kill, hunt or conquer.
I am what I am, yet I yearn to be complete.
Am I weak, for wanting to share my emotion?
Am I unique for believing in this notion.

I am a man, yet I cannot walk in anger.
I am what I am, but I need to be whole
Can I achieve a balanced nature
Can I be softened as well as hardened.

I am a man, yet I feel compassion.
I am what I am, yet I need to care
How do I bring out the femme inside me.
Balance of my duality is my need.

I am a man, yet I hate things men do.
I am what I am, and sometimes I do these things too.
How can I  sort the Truth from the lies?

                          Let Me In

 It's cold outside and I don't want to go home.
    I'm knockin' on your heart's door.
    don't want to be all alone.

                    (chorus)

Oh,  don't you hear me knockin?
Oh,  won't you let me in?
I'd make you warm and cozy.
Oh,  please won't you let me in?

My heart is cold, and I want to come home,
Oh please don't leave me at you door.
Out standing in the cold.

     (repeat chorus)

                         Find A Way                                                (copywriter 1994 RDAlbee)

I wish I could find a way to tell you.
I wish I could make you understand.
I do not wish to posses you.
I only want to help you make a stand.

Whenever your world is closing in on you,
I only want to give you some of mine.
Whenever you're feeling down and blue,
I want to help you leave it all behind.

If you can find a space in your heart for just a
little bit of me.
I'll do my best every day to help you set yourself free.

                      Chorus

 I have seen your beauty,
And I have seen your pain.
but, I don't know how to help you.
Please help me find a way,
         Find a way.

                   You Set Me Free

As I sit here singing,
I think of all the times I was so blue.
Tears no longer wash my eyes.
I think of all the joy you bring.
You set me free,  You set me free.

   (Chorus)

 You set me free,
 Free as the shining sea.
 Free as a bird in flight.
 You turned on the light.
 You set me free,  You set me free.

    As Love Dies

 Something dies within,
 shattering my soul. wondering, where has her love gone?
 A tangling of hearts, shattered in sorrow.
 Seeking to communicate, emptiness replaces love.
 Silence creeps in, angry voices, a cold feeling,
 wanting to be warmed.

 Music fades, no longer in harmony.
 No sweet flute shrills, void, nothing to share.
 Wanting to speak, needing you now,
 more than before.
 Where has love gone?

 Broken bridges, cry for repair.
 Cruel waters churn below, where calm waters ran before.
 Can we turn and run, when our need is so great?
 Time passes too quickly,
 Will we realize it too late?
 Where has love gone?

    A Star for You

c. 1995, RDAlbee

 There is a star in the sky above
 that shines for only you.
 A bright and mystic point of light,
 created for you to pursue.

 It will guide you on your journey,
 as you try to find your way.
 It will help you focus,
 When you feel the need to stray.

It's so hard to focus,
on this little point of light.
It's easier to turn and run,
then stay and face the fight.

 A brand new way awaits you,
 If you dare board the cosmic train.
 Power of the cosmos, can merge with your own,
 'ne'er be the same again.

I hardly know who you are, but I believe it's true,
You are on the journey deep into your soul.
I want to know you, share in this beauty I see in you.
 I want to know you, Let's let the journey begin.

                       I am Moved.                                (c. 1994  Reid Albee)

I  love how you talk to me.
and how you make my heart smile..
I love the way I have become so free.
oh sweet woman can't you see.

Can't you see how you carry me to new heights of joy.
When you touch me I don't feel like just another toy.
You honesty and passion carry me away.
Oh sweet lady I love your tender way..

I love how you laugh when I make a little joke
how you softly smile when I touch you.
I love how you  let me hold you so close
Oh sweet woman, don't you see?

Don't you see how high I fly when I'm with you.
You touch my body, my heart and soul straight thru...
When I'm with you I am so moved.
Oh sweet woman you carry me away.

I know that you have been hurt
And its hard for you to trust again.
I will not rush this sweet thing with you
Oh sweet lady can't you see?

Can't you see that I care so much for you
I want so much to be loved by you.
I love the things that we do.
Oh sweet woman I am moved by you.

         Never believed in Miracles
              'Till the Miracle of You'

 I never believed much in miracles,
 Never took much stock in fate.
 I always took what came my way,
 And I was thinking it was too late.

 I searched this world for meaning in my life,
 and buried myself in my haste.
 Then I began to see the light,
 I'm making up for the time I laid waste.

 Now I have my miracle,
 You are in my life anew.
 Everything is clearer to me now.
 I never believed in miracles,
 Till the miracle of you.

 I have never received a blessing,
 so sweet and meaningful to me.
 The beauty of our closeness, caresses my soul,
 In my heart, my sweet friend, you will always be.

c 1995 rd albee         Nuked By You

I saw you standin' in that doorway,
Puffin' on your cigarette.
You smiled at me as I went through that doorway
I said to myself, I'll talk to her yet.

You looked at me, with sexy eyes.
My body shivered as you walked by.
Your smile was a like nuclear explosion,
I shuddered, walked inside and died.

Weeks went by and I thought of you,
wondering if you were real.
I stole a glance every time I saw you.
Just hoping you would look at me.

It wasn't long ago, you talked to me,
Said that you wanted to hang around.
I came by to see you.
You sent me packing like an old wet hound.

Oh, where did you go, my shallow friend?
I just got to know!
I only wanted to get to know you.
Why did you walk away?

Were you just playin' games with me?
Just playin' me for a fool?
Why did you turn and run from me?
When we could have been so cool?

 Once In A Life   c 1994, R. D. Albee

 Once in a life,
 You find  someone who understands
 Once in a life,
 You want to take someone's hand.
 Once in a life,
 You want to hold someone close,
 And, once in a life
 You never want to let go.

 Since you've come into my life.
 So much has been revealed to me.
 You touched me in a very special way.
 For Once in my life,
 I cast my fears away.

 Once in a life,
 You find a kiss that's so sweet.
 Once in a life
 You meet someone you thought you'd never meet.
 Once in a life
 Life tastes so divine
 And, once in your life,
 You you can leave the past behind.

 (chorus)

                       I Know Your Pain
                       (but I don't know you)
c 1992 R. Albee

You came into my life when I didn't where to turn.
I was on the road to hell,  yeah,  I was ready to burn.
You restored my confidence and pride, made me sing again,
And it makes me so happy,  I can call you friend.

And what's so very strange,  I know your pain, but I don't know you.
I've seen you cry in my dreams,  I know you were once so blue.
Now I can't go on this way, no not any more.
I've got to get to know you, please don't close the door.

I don't care if we're friends or lovers, that don't matter any more.
I just need to get to know you, won't you please open the door.
It don't matter that I love you, I can live with that you know.
But if I don't get to know you,  how will our new friendship grow.

 My Prayer for our Friendship

 God guide us, and grant us the wisdom
 To appreciate this special gift
 You have chosen for us to share...
 The precious gift of our friendship.

 Grant us the wisdom to rejoice,
 When we agree,
 To be patient and understand,
 When we disagree.

 Grant us the serenity,
 That comes from the healing we share.
 Grant us the love,
 That forgives if one is harmed by the other.

 Grant us the wisdom,
 To appreciate what You in Your Grace,
 Have freely given to us.
 Ourselves, Each other and You.

 And foremost,
 Grant us the wisdom to understand,
 That this all comes from You.
 Your precious gift to us.
 Guide us O' Lord, that we may always know,
 This beautiful gift of our friendship,
 Comes from You.

                  Amen

  I watched you from a distance......

  longing for the courage to talk to you.

  But, I needed to rest....

  Prepare for my new life,

  After the slow death, that nearly,

  brought me to my knees.

  Your outer beauty captured me instantly,

  that day in September,

  when you walked by me and smiled....

  and I said nothing...too shy...hurting too much

  to talk to you.

  Even then, the goosebumps spoke to me....

  "She is someone special".

  Now, as I get to know you,

  I see how special you are..

``  You are beautiful inside too...

  A flower waiting to bloom....

  like a rose with untrimmed thorns....

  You begin to emerge from your past...

  and your pain.

  You have the courage of the bull,

  and the gentleness of the mare...

  Your mind is just beginning to expand

  to a more distant and lofty state of being.

  I believe in you....care about you,

  want to know you so deeply.

  You make me smile, laugh and fill me with

  a passion that I thought I would never feel again.

  I know you are weary of me....

  I sense that, yet I do not worry.

  I cannot control how you feel about me.

  I am real, and here for you.

  Let me help you grow, as you search

  for a better way.

  I will not disappear in the fall,

  like so many lovers do.

  My interest in you is deep, to my core...

  Take a chance, beautiful one...

  I will not disappoint you.

  I do not wish to control you,

  I only wish to share, what is me...

  with what is you.

  I will not let you get lost in me,

  nor, will I get lost within you.

  There is much here for both of us to explore

  and share, if only we get past the fear...

  Do not judge me from past experience, my friend.

  I am not like so many you have known.

  I am sincere...and I sincerely want to be in your

  life.

  I do not wish to own you....

```  I only wish for the joy of knowing
  you....a beautiful, intelligent, vital
  human being.
  I care.... for you.
  She Walks Again
She's been safe and she's been sorry.
She's been together and she's been torn apart.
She's been high and proud and she's been brought to
her knees.
She's had a broken heart.
She's seen the thunder and the lightning, and she's
seen the clouds drift away.
She's been the hunter and the hunted
She's been the stalker and the prey
She's seen the dark and she's journeyed into the
light.
This woman, my friend, this caring spirit
going forth on her journey.
This woman, my friend, this caring heart
seeker of truth and wisdom, regaining her power.
She knows the sorrow of lost power
She weeps from the pain.
She seeks and knows with each hour
That lost power comes to her again:
wisdom, light, power, peace.
This woman, my friend, this courageous one
Sharing, trusting hoping, caring
This woman, my friend, this seeking heart
Sharing, caring, getting stronger, free again
               She's learning'              c.1994 r.d. albee
See the pretty lady
 over there on the stool.
Stroking her guitar,
 sounding so cool.
Listen to her lyrics,
 and awe at her style.
She sings of her pain,
 yet look how she smiles.
Notice how she sounds,
 like the angles above.
How everyone listens,
 to a voice anyone could love.
It comes from within her,
 and yet it comes from us all.
It comes from her heart,
 can you hear the call?
Listen to her closely,
 and repeat the refrain
Look at her smile,
 as she emerges from her pain.
(refrain)
It won't be long now,
 you'll be hearin' her name.
It won't take forever,
 she's on her way.
She's learning' to sing,
 and she's learning' to play.
She's learning' how to live.
 This woman is on her way.
It won't be long know,
 you'll be knowin' her name.
It won't take long now,
 she's on her way.
She's learning' to sing,
 and she's learning' to play.
She's learning' how to live.
 This woman is on her way.
                     The Legion Song
 Sitting in the Legion all alone and on the rebound,
 Cryin' in my beer, lookin' for someone new.
 My lover left me flat, and I'm feeling blue.
 I'd forgotten how I once felt about you.
                      (chorus)
 Could you love me,  could you be mine?
 Yeah, we both been lookin' for a very long time.
 Could I love you and forget about her?
 All you got to do is show me a sign.
 I saw you lookin' at me as I sat in misery.
 I saw that look in your eye as you passed by.
 And I wondered is there a chance, could I love you
 after all.
 Then I looked in my glass and turned to a crystal ball.
  (repeat chorus)
