My Uncle Robert and
Aunt Doris VanderPutten had four
children: Barbara, Loretta, Martha and Robert. This page is
about Laurie and her family.

Loretta aka Laurie
VanderPutten was born in San
Francisco on October 29, 1955. In the sweep of
Western history, 1955 may not have been the most
eventful year of the millennium. However, for
global significance, Laurie's birth certainly
beat out Mr. Eisenhower's becoming the 1st
President to appear on color TV -- which is one
of the few events most histories record for that
year.

A quarter century later, in Lubbock,
Texas on November 8, 1980, Laurie married Paul
Loken. Paul was finishing a tour of duty in the
Air Force at the time. They stayed in Lubbock
while Paul attended Texas Tech University. Their
first daughter, Stephanie,
was born there on August 2, 1982. (In October 2000, she became a
TCU SuperFrog.)

In December 1983, Paul
graduated. The Lokens moved to Fort Worth where
Paul took a position with General Dynamics as an
Avionics software design engineer. He will
celebrate his 16th year in January, 2000. Andrea was
born in Fort Worth on June 7, 1984. Laurie became
a stay-at-home mom working part time when the two
girls became school age and full time when Andrea
hit high-school. She currently works in the
Office of Sponsored Programs at TCU.
