ABOUT THE AUTHOR
As if to atone for the contained and disguised emotion found in three centuries of women's poetry before her time, Terra McVoy is overflowing with unrepressed passion and unapologetic anger. Unlike many of her contemporaries, however, McVoy's poetry lacks either of the usual retaliations to patriarchal dominance -- that is, she avoids both the role of the submissive victim as well as that of the outraged virago. Instead, the author entraps her readers in the same ineluctable alienation and futility in which she herself is entrapped. In doing so, the reader is left without an answer and thus, left to their own devices to pursue whatever resolution is to be found.
