To Do (and Don't) List
This is a list of things I did when I decided to start crocheting for money. Mind you I still don't make much, but I love to crochet, and the look on a kids face when "Mom" buys them one of my toys is well worth the effort.

Do's...Don'ts...
Get a state sales tax certificateWorry about being an overnight
success
Keep real good track
of what you buy
for the business
Pay with cash if you don't have
to( you will have 2 receipts
for everything)
Keep track of mileage( trips to
the store for supplies could
be deductible)
Throw away your receipts
Ask others opinions of the
marketability of your product
Put out a sign until you know
the city/town has no problem with it
Let people know about
you & your "stuff"
Justify your pricing...
you know your prices are
fair for what they are getting.
Business cards are a
must! Either print them
up or have them printed.
It lends credibility to
you & your product.
Go nuts doing a lot of one item, variety
is usually a plus.
Choose something you love
doing...late nights doing something you
don't like is not conducive
to productivity.
Give unreal estimates for orders(if
it takes 15 hours to make something,
give yourself a week to complete it.
Customers are happy when
they get an item ahead of schedule.
