Crocheted Afghans
This afghan didn't turn out as pretty as I hoped it would, but it certainly did turn out to be a festive and bright christmas accent peice. I used a true red, white and emerald green and crocheted eight rows of red then two white then eight green, repeat. That's my husband Ted, taking a nap (he wasn't happy about me taking this picture.
The furry thing on top is our dog Sam.
I love this afghan, but I didn't make it as big as I would have liked. I made it before I started making them all twin sized. The picture doesn't do this afghan justice. The colors are Maroon, Forest Green, Navy Blue and Purple. I know that might sound totally ugly, but it really came out nice. I crocheted ten rows of each color before moving on to the next color in the pattern.
This afghan is all Granny Squares. I learned to crochet when I was a child from my great-grandmother. This one has a light blue/dark blue pattern to it. I also made one exactly like it with a light pink/dark pink yarn combination.
I've made several more afghans, but most of them have been given away. When the mood hits me to make an afghan, and I really don't have a use for it, I am wrapping the finished product up and putting it away in the attic. I figure I have them for an unexpected gift occasion, or I will just hang on to them and let my kids take them as they grow up and move away.
