Fabric Painting

Decorative Wall Hoops

Decorative Wall Hoops are quick easy and they make great gifts for ANY occasion! The following hoops were ones that I used to sell in craft shows.

These hoops are easily made, here are some guidelines.
  • Purchase a wooden hoop at the store (usually less than $1.00, fabric and lace. If you don't already have iron on transfers, you will need those as well.
  • Using a cotton or poly cotton fabric, iron on a transfer you have selected.
  • Paint the picture with your favorite type of fabric paint.
  • Once paint is dry, iron fabric then place in the hoop tightly, as you would if you were embroidering.
  • It helps to cut a circular peice of white posterboard as backing, and insert it behind the picture.
  • With a hot glue gun, attach the lace to the wood, starting at the top and working your way around 360 degrees. For a nicer effect, fold the lace every half inch or so to create a ruffled effect.
  • You have just created a gift for yourself or someone you love.
  • These hoops can be given as gifts for any occasion. Florals are always nice for birthdays, anniversarys and house warmings. Horses, bears, unicorns and other animals are nice for children's gift giving occasions. For men, Deer, Association Emblems and hunting scenes are nice.
